Hey all,

I am moving into a flat on Tuesday and I have to arrange electricity and water bills. Is it worth shopping around for the cheapest one or are they all pretty much the same? Any links would be great. Also I have to get the internet sorted but I don't want/need an actually telephone, I am guessing I still have to pay line rental even if i dont need the phone?

Thanks for any advice.

But the Product is mostly great.

If your in a cabled area, give them a ring.

Regarding Electricity, Water, GAS, take readings from the appropiate meters and note them and keep them in safe place.

Electricity:
http://www.energylinx.co.uk/mpas_online.htm

Ring the number for your region and ask them who the current supplier is, they will ask for the meter number which should be visible on the meter.

Ring that supplier and tell them the date you moved in and the meter read.

Water:
Ring the appropiate company from the ones listed:
http://www.water-guide.org.uk/companies.html

If you have a meter, give them a reading.

Gas:
Ring Transco's Meter Helpline on 0870 608 1524 and ask them for your MPRN number and name of your registered supplier.

Ring the supplier, give them the MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) and give the meter read and the date you moved in.

Once youve done that, use services like Uswitch.com to look for different providers.

You can change with Uswitch online which makes things easy.
