Football Fixtures 15-16th December **Spoilers**

That was after the "offside" though wasnt it?

Im not saying they dont, but the guy looked very confident and as it was a pretty "central" chance he could have gone either way (more chance for him to score and harder for Reina)

If they had been given the chance to get parity - I personally think Liverpool would have got a little nervy - but the linesman gave you the decision and the rest is history

No the foul was before the offside (wasn't sure so had to watch it again).

Im certainly not saying he wasn't likely to score but Gilly (and then you) made it out to be nailed on he'd score.

BTW the striker wasn't even facing our goal when he was given offside so it wasn't even a straight forward 1 on 1 anyway but like you say it wasn't given just like the red cards weren't and we'll have to live with just the 4-0:)

He was running through on goal and collected the ball. It was a 1 on 1 and in any of those situations a striker should score. Like I said it should have been 1-1.

If that is what you meant then fair enough but your post in here and the euro spoilers thread made it seem as if you felt the ref directly cost Marseille a goal rather than cost them the chance to score and like i said above, it wasn't a straight forward chance as the forward managed to get himself facing the wrong way with Reina out at his feet so more of a could score than a should score imo.

It wasn't just that, it was the fact that had that decision not gone the wrong way Torres wouldn't have gone straight down the other end and scored. Like a double punishment against Marseille.

Possibly but like i keep saying we had a double punishment too when the officials failed to produce 2 red cards earlier in the game which would have more than likely meant that offside decision wouldn't have come about.

In the euro spoilers thread you claimed we were lucky, at best the decisions leveled themselves out but really Liverpool if any had the right to feel unlucky with decisions that game.

Can't see Arsenal winning without Fabregas and Hleb but it'll be a great afternoon of football, this may be the only time I say this all season but the Liverpool game may be more entertaining to watch than the Arsenal game :(.

I think with Diaby back in the middle we'll be much better than we were in the previous games, plus having RvP up top means we'll have someone who can keep the ball and pass it well in both positions. I have a feeling we may see some of Cesc.

I think the Liverpool v United game will be a cracker on Sunday. We've had so many dull games between the two teams over the past few seasons and so many low scoring games we're due a 4-3 or something.

I hope Benitez doesn't go mad and picks a 4-4-2 formation with players suited to that formation. I also hope he starts with Torres and Crouch/Babel upfront with Kewell and Gerrard (if Alonso and Mascherano start in the centre) on the wings. Don't think it'll happen buts it's nice to dream about a team without the mediocrity of Sissoko and Kuyt contaminating things.

I think the days of Gerrard on the right may be gone, saying that if he is going to play on the right it would be in a game like sunday's.

You're dreaming about the 4-3 though :p

interesting to see fergie pulling his usual stunt of highlighting how man utd were after the oppositions recent acquisition (only when he is doing well of course)!

can't remember but wasn't there some debate on here as to whether fergie was after torres>with some saying no?

lol iirc atpbx was saying that Utd or Chelsea didn't make a bid for him. To be fair to Fergie he did say at the very start of the season that they bid for him but every time Athletico played ball Torres didn't want to move (and Torres has said he rejected moves to Arsenal and Chelsea in the past).

Hope United do the business or i'm ouf of pocket a lot with my mate whos a liverpool fan and a guy at work.

Decided instead of just betting a tenner we've got a tenner for every goal the team wins by so hopefully a big win for United will get me lots :D
