First car need a cheap insurer..

i want to pay £50 to insure my car but it just isnt going to happen, unfortunately insurance is just one of those things we all have to pay,

from the looks of it youve tried all the insurers who are most likely to be competitive, looks to me like your going to have to lump your £900 :(

a joke for a reason.

Because of a few muppets, not all < 21's drive like they're on a race track... just a fair few

im in the same boat, just got to pay my £777 and carry on.

Don't waste your time with Aggregator sites like confused.com, insurance companies don't supply them with accurate quotes. They give standard base rates and *do not* quote for broker fee's, IPT and similar additional charges. Consider broker commision ranges from 10% to 70% also, so just because Confused.coms X is best, it probably isnt.

The reason for this is all insurers want to get 1st place, of course. Even the one i work for.

regardless, they cause a higher amount of damage, hence they should be charged more.
thats life.

sites like confused should be used for a generic search, when you get the best offer, goto the companies website and do a quote on it, you will most likely get it a lot cheaper directly :]

Get some quotes from the comparison sites and from the individual companies and play them off against each other. Managed to get More Than to beat a Direct Line quote, I'm paying 650 on my first insurance policy (I passed my test 4 years ago though).

My girlfriend manages to talk Bell down every year, they buckle very easily, not a year has passed where she's not called after getting her renewal and knocked at least £50 off it, I think her record was about £60 off an excess reduced from £150 to £0 :)

£900 3pfat is quite good. i pay that for my group 2 polo worth 3k with a good postcode.
Roll on stricter tests! :p
I disagree.
The current system of 'cant pass more than 3 in a row' & 'x amount of fails per month' is already flawed how it is.
It would be better to have the testing system completely revised.
For example, 3-5 tests, with different examiners over the course of a week or so. Then they can get a good indication of what your like, rarther than the pressure filled 40mins they give you.

load of claptrap :/

As for your plan, totally unfeasable. There is already a minimum 8 week waiting list just for a single 40 minute slot at my local test centre, 5 times with different examiners is just not realistic.

What is?
That there is rules for pass/failing for the instructors?

Prehaps it is, but it'd have the same effect as other ideas to cut down on people learning to drive/young drivers.
Plus, it depends entirely on the test centre.

Try More Than, insured on my Honda Civic 1.5i 3rd party for £1300 the cheapest company after them was directline which wanted £2000.

Mate got insured on his 03 Model Clio 1.2 for £700 with More Than.

have you tryed adding your mum / dad to the policy

depending on the insurer, it can reduce the premium as they reckon the time they spend in the car is time spent less at risk of pranging it.

adding my mum added £500 to my policy...clearly insurers know shes a risk hehe

anyways 900 is good for a 1st car, its what im paying with adrian flux

like i said, it depends on the insurers

some discount, others charge you more as a deterant to people putting there mum and dad on to reduce the premium.

Bell.co.uk

aimed at zero NCB and new drivers. and do the 10 month fast track thingy. Quoted me £700 when the nearest competitor was £1100
