Vista SP1 RC Download links.

Network Transfers still only ~3Mbps which is pathetic, I can download from the internet faster than that.

I have to admit that even although the Multimedia Class Scheduler Service still cripples the network when playing music, if you use the registry hack or stop playing any sounds my throughput went up from about 40% pre service pack to 75%ish of a gig network which is as fast as the hardrive in my HTPC can read so it does appear network transfers are faster, I just wish they would sort out the MCSS service when playing any form of sound as this results in only 5-6% network usage on a gig network which is a joke.

Hmmm, just installed the SP1 RC1, and I have a "Windows Vista (TM) Evaluation copy. Build 6001" in the bottom right of my desktop? Anyone else have this?

Im on Vista Ultimate Retail (32bit)!

I never had that on Vista Home Prem x32 when I had it installed.

I know people will prob choose to try this but it well and truly messed up my computer. Fixed little and stopped access to control panel and a lot of other things. Wouldn't uninstall and BSOD'd ALL THE TIME.

I won't be installing SP1 until a month after its public release at least.

Running a updated clean install of Vista U x64 and its running ever so sweet.

Just found that you can now select which drives you want to defrag from the defrag gui now, instead of defraging ALL drives, that p*ssed me off, as I had to defrag via cmd prompt!

So thats one thing I like bout sp1!

I tried sp1 on 32bit, I noticed some performance increase but it created a few problems. Sidebar gadgets crashing, programs not running and memory errors. Luckily it did allow me to uninstall it from the ctrl panel. Will wait until after the full release now I reckon.

Same with the gadgets, anything non-MS crashes, mmm think i will leave it on and play around with it. Can always uninstall, and even a full reinstall of vista aint a big deal

It just displays a black screen and gets to 34333/116438 then gives the error code

0xC01a001d and freezes can't do anything at all!

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Have you tried running system restore via the Vista install disc? If that doesn't work then theres probably not much more you can do except format and reinstall.

Giving this one a wide berth

Seems MS have just recruited a boat load of beta testers with not so positive results from what I have seen around the internet.

Vista working well as is :) Will leave well enough alone!
