i can make about £90 for my x1900xt so what do you think, should i go for it with a view to crossfire multiple 38xx cards in the future or should i just add the extra money and get an 8800gt ?

thanks all :)

p.s. here's toms vga charts for comparison...

If you can afford it then the 8800GT is a lot faster than a 3850 and much better supported than a Crossfire setup would be, though obviously slower in games which do support Crossfire. The 3850 is not a great deal faster than the X1900XT, but would still be a worthwhile purchase seen as you can get it for less than £10!

Personally I'd get the GT.

doubt it'd fetch £90 on there tbh, just checked and a 512mb version ended yesterday at £40 + del. and the 3850 is a fair bit quicker than the XT and will continue to be so.

I've benched my 3850 on 01,03,05,06 and with each new revision the gap between this and my X1800XT grew wider and wider. e.g 01 X1800XT - 31,000. 3850-34,000 however when running 06 my 1800 - 4,221. 3850 - 10,201. the way the industry and games are moving the 3850 will out pace a 1900 xtx with ease

Ive got an X1900xtx, and i can play most games with the settings cranked right up.. except for crisis of course.. but then who can:rolleyes:

i was concidering upgrading to an 8800gt, or new gts, but ive decided im going to hold off now as im still very happy with the performance of it. im just going to wait until the nvidia 9800 series comes out next year :)

i upgraded from a X1900XT to a 256mb HD3850 and the difference in performance was quite noticable (especially in crysis). HOwever I should note I also upgraded for the video features as well.

However I would say that if going for the HD3850 go for the 512mb model rather than the 256mb model (this also makes quite a difference in crysis).

Finally you won't get anywhere near £90 for a X1900XT.

£70 is about tops of what they are going for on here, OCUK even had a X1950XT in the clearance senction for £70

Not trying to have a go just trying to be realistic.
