8800GT - 256Mb vs 512Mb

Plenty of reviews out there of comparisons but all i've seen have the 1600MHz XFX 256Mb card in....how does the 1800MHz 8800GT in both memory sizes compete?

This could potentially be driving a 1680x1050 monitor for gaming.
 
Some games see only a slight frame rate drop but it can be game-breaking. Some games see a huge drop. For a res like 1680x1050, probably best to go for the 512MB card.
 
512mb for peace of mind. Imagine getting the card through the door to find out that at your given resolution that you are experiencing slow downs?. To send the card back and wait for the other one to arrive. Wouldn't be me. Especially in the holiday season ;).
 
8800GT 256MB overclocked (I think it makes bugger all difference) is getting 50-60fps in Crysis 1680*1050 all settings MEDIUM. no AA no AF
Same with World in Conflict Medium settings no AA, no AF, 50+fps avg.

With an 8800GT 512 you can play at high settings, try that with the 256mb and see what happenes ;).

still recon a GT 512mb is the sweet spot with 1680x1050, especially if you want to run most modern games at high settings.
