Russians - why are they still like this?

Russia is indeed odd, but not sure why they made a big point about the russian-only (i assume that alphabet is russian) signposting. I wish theyd do that in Wales :p
 
So people try to help them and they get even more up there own **** ? When WILL PEOPLE REALISE WERE ALL ON THE SAME PLANET ! were all human !

Some people are hell bent on dividing and seperateing the human race, to what end ?
 
I think that's harsh on Russia, I bet the US would get annoyed if the Cold War had gone the other way and Russia offered to help them out for example...

I personally really want to go to Russia like it is, it fascinates me.

Same with a lot of Europe, yeh the signs can make sense if you learn a bit of french for example. Learn to recognise some Russian words and you'd be ok over there. I can't see what the problem is :/

Russia's 'problem' is with the USA, and since America have us in their pockets the Russians will target us. You don't see them really bothering any other Western country.

With American being the self proclaimed police of the world, who can blame Russia? If I was Putin, I would be doing the same thing.

Hehe yeh. i can see how Lavrov can be compared to those two leaders ;)

They like a strong leader. they have huge potential and know it, however history has been very frustrating for them. it is also a recent democracy, not two decades old.
for the last 100 years they have been at the opposite ideological area to the west, which they are very close to (producing a siege mentality and inferiority complex). and previously to that they have been economically and military backwards as they did not manage to industrialise with the other strong powers.

of course there is a different psych to the West, and it seems pretty natural to me their reactions. dont forget Putin still has huge support there. it is not simply a lunatic single person dragging a country. (and even then, if we talk about stalin to a point he needed to do it to be in a position to defeat the nazis)
 
Let's not forget that this is the Country whose past leaders felt it was perfectly OK to sacrifice 3 million people to save one City. That mindset is still ingrained into the political bodies of Russia today.

Take that theatre seige not long back, they felt it was perfectly fine to gas everyone in there just as long as the terrorists were killed too.
 
If they dislike the West so much, are they prepared to rescind their place in Euro 2008? Maybe they could hand it over to England...? :D
