Super Stardust HD

I really wish they would auto patch the game when you start it up like xbox. I would have never found the update if it wasnt for this thread! Thanks!

Just downloading the update now.

The patch is not supposed to be there. Some accounts can see it, other's can't.

Edit: Harry can see the Thestrals pulling the carriages but Hermione and Ron can't see them!!!

Just updated.

There is a Online Store button in the menu now which is nice, shows a Single Player expansion that will be released soon at the price of £2.49!

I just got the UK one and updated. It kept all my high scores, but now I have to unlock all the planets again. ffs!! (different game save to the USA one).

"Expecto Patronum!!!"

I deleted and redownloaded my stardust to get the update version. Looks a lot better and much better sounding in 5.1

Going to copy over the amiga super stardust tunes to try the custom music option ;)

Some games seem to do this, and others not.
For example, Stranglehold and F1 both auto updated when a patch was available. When I went to load them, before they got to their menu, it warned me there was a patch, and auto proceeded to download it.
Obviously not all games do this though, so thanks for the OP for posting, or I'd probably have missed it too!

Great plan. Super Stardust on the Amiga was ace, Super Stardust AGA was outstanding ;) Feel free to send the Amiga Super Stardust tunes to the email address in my trust, for added nostalgia! :)
(Just a shame the remake, which is excellent in almost every way, doesn't have those stunning tunnel sequences)

I have never tried this out, i take it its worth grabbing? The last month ive really not played much on my 360 at all, its all been about the ps3, the one thing i dont like is that you cant demo the games like you can with the 360, but i suppose at the price its not really a major problem.

It's one of the most underrated games on the PS Store, although in terms of value, I think Loco Roco Cocoreccho is probably one of the best value games of all time.
£2 for god sake!
So Super Stardust HD + Loco Roco Cocoreccho = £7

Beat that Xbox Live.

*awaits flame war*

this is my 1st expericence with Super Stardust but i do have fond memories of Project-X by team 17 on the amiga and then Einhander on the PS1

OMG, Project X was brilliant also, in fact, I loved all those kind of games.
Project X and Apydia were titles I played right up until the end of my Amiga gaming days.... still possible via emulation of course.

Super Stardust AGA though was simply jawdropping.
I had the original first, and it was great, as at the time, the asteroids were all raytraced/light sources, which was a big thing, and looked amazing.
But it also had some Tunnel Sequences, 3D, the like of which I'd never seen before. Flying down a fast, and very smooth, 3D tunnel, taking out asteroids and alien ships. At the time, it was the most stunning effect ever (on the amiga anyway) Or to rephrase, it was brilliant on a standard Amiga, the AGA version was the one with *** most stunning effect ever.

Yeah, I used to love the shooter on my Amiga, and back on my C64 come to that. Delta, which was released all the way back in 1987 (by the great Thalamus, and music by Rob Hubbard) will always be remembered.

V1N.

EDIT: Team 17 did release project x on the PS1 as well. I recently gave it away to a mate with a PS2 to play on. It looked bloody brilliant, as far as 2D shooters go, but nobody I knew could play it, it was so impossibly hard!

I bought this today, seems quite fun, i was flabbergasted though when i thought i did okay on my first shot only to see the friends leaderboard and see some of the scores you guys have, especially RP's, insane score! How long did it take to get that?

Any hints/tips? Whats the benefit of the different weapons?

Some tips from other thread:

Some vague tips to help.

1) Every bomb you have left at the end of the round adds to your multiplied score at the end of each round.
The calculation is

TimeLeft x (2000 + (100 x no. of bombs)) x Multiplier

So on the first level you have 3 bombs to start with so if you don'use them the 2000 above will become 2300 etc.

On each planet (made of 5 waves) you get 2 bombs on each of wave 2, 3 & 4.

2) Boosting (L2) though the Points objects gives more points then flying though them. by default these give you 2500 x Multiplier.

So if you have a multiplier of x3 then they are worth 7500 each. BUT if you boost through them they are multiplied even more. If I boost through the same Points bonus I will get 2x7500. If I boost though 2 (I line them up then boost) I will get 2x7500 for 1st one, 3x7500 for next one. If I boosted through 11 (which is possible after you break the big Green bonus blocks) I would get (2x7500)+(3x7500)+....+(11x7500).

So even if you just have a single Bonus point item, boost through it to get double points.

3) I never continue beyond the 1st wave of Planet 1 (LAVE) unless I get at least 6 weapons upgrades.

4) Weapons upgrade order should always be Rock Crusher, then Gold Melter, then Ice Splitter.

I can't think of anything else. A video would help much better but I do not have facilities to do this. I am very fast at killing the bosses, if anyone wants hints on them post here.

More hints in that thread: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17777050

Although don't get me started on this game again otherwise Uncharted and Mass Effect will never get a look in!!!

I just noticed you are very close to one of my highscores!!! (can't remember which planet)!

correction to my earlier post - it was Taranis, hehe, I've been practicing too ... 7,374,735 to beat ;p (if only my other scores where higher!! :)).

edit: I lost one or two ships at least and used at least 4 bombs so you should beat it pretty easily ... I throw down the gauntlet of challengerness to all contenderers... ;)

Not so easy, I have to unlock all the planets again since I downloaded the updated UK one. (Only Planet 1 is unlocked).

And now it shows when you set your high scores, I have realised I last excelled at this game 3 months ago!!

I will try though :p

^ I was a bit worried about losing the planets when I added the upgrade but it was maybe fixed now cos I didn't lose them ... still, I can't seem to break the 25 million barrier in the main game yet but I have a few days off soon :)

I also noticed with the upgrade that new high scores have a flag for your country next to the high score :)

edit: bit of humour is you scroll to near the end of the credits: 'May all your giant enemy crabs belong to our weak spot for massive damage' - I really like these little in jokes and easter eggs in games :)

I deleted my USA copy (that has no update) and replaced with the UK copy (2.02) Which is why I lost my planets, but kept high scores.

Most of them this year have all been around that Sony E3 conference though, especially the Genji bit :D

I bought Super Stardust but I couldn't get into it.

I can see it's fun though so I'll give it another few tries over Christmas, especially now I can listen to other music while playing it.
