*****THE OFFICIAL***** MASS EFFECT THREAD

Just finished this morning, i wanna start again but should i either:
Make a new character an evil one
Use my old character who ive completed the game with and make him evil, so i lose all his 100% paragon points.

Yay finished the game on hardcore for the 3rd time last night and STILL didn't get an ally achievement even though I had Wrex with me through the entire game :( Even on Hardened, Saren posed no challenge.

When you restart a character even though you keep stats/level/equipment you lose all Paragon/Renegade points, so i'd say use the same char and just do all the evil stuff :)

hmmm, thats a bit poor, i'm working on my second playthrough at the minute, the first time round I did manage to get 'The Completionist' just before the last planet, hoping this time round to get a couple of the ally achievements, but it seems to be a massive chunk of the game to be classed as 'the majority'...

Slightly wrong on the name, it's just 'Completionist' but apparantly you get it for "Complete the majority of the game". But as I said I didn't get it for ages, and my first run through was ~35 hours so I did a far bit of stuff/random side quests... :p

Same, it took me a long time before I got that - but that'd be spoiler-worthy.

It seems that you also get the ally achievement when you get 'completionist' - that is, if you've had those characters for the majority of the game. As in, not changing them for others.

From what iv'e read else where you need to do near 99% of the game side quests included to get that achievement AND its advised that you don't complete any quests until you have your team mates that you want for the entire run picked. Slightly ridiculous achievement tbh.

I've just restarted for my 4th playthrough at Lv59/Insanity. I think RuMp3l4$k1n is right. Maybe we do need to do more of the side missions to get the ally achievements? I know I did quite a bit on my last play through though. This time I'll stick with Kaiden and Tali for the whole game.

Sorry - I haven't got the patience to read through all 17 pages to see if my question has been answered...

How do you view your character's skills in order that you can give them the right equipment? The only time it seems to come up is when you level up and then you only see two of your squad mates at a time.

Grats on the lvl Kainz.
Passed mine over to my gf for now so I'm having to play other stuff to fill the void.

ic1male the UI is quite poor in that respect, you can outfit the whole team from the Normady's lower bay (where the Mako is) but once on a mission you can only equip those team 2 mates that are with you. So you have to wait to offload usefull guns etc.
I haven't found a way to view character (not equipment) stats from the equipment menu so its off to the squad one then back to equip if you need to know what wep they specialize in.
If I'm wrong someone let me know cause it will make my life easier as well. :p

I did as many sidequests as possible pretty much (minus about three ?) then Noveria then Feros.
I got completionist part way through Feros and my Ashley ally one at the same time, I got Tali shortly afterwards, cant remember if it was on completion of Feros or the sidequest I did after that, think on the completion of Feros.

I didnt get the achievement for my allies right untill the very end, one after someone holds a gun to their own head and the other where you make the final dialog choices, i completed every side quest i could aswell.

Playing through fresh on insane now and so far i havent died, unlike my last playthrough on hardcore. Thats probably because i was too busy trying to use an assault rifle with my soldier last time round when i should have just used a pistol which seems to absolutely rape it with my infiltrator on this playthrough(the pistol must be underrated)

well just completed my first run through on this and have to say what a gem of a game. Now this isn't the sort of game I would normally play but it has been an awesome journey. It took me the best part of 35 hours and I think I only had 3 quests unfinshed but after playing the game realised that I had only been playing on vetern and not hardcore so will have to start playing on hardcore now and try to be a renegade as I played as a paragon last time round.

The time just seemed to evaporate when I was playing this. All in all an ace game and I think one of the few that may have lived up to the hype that has been generated around it.

Can't post the link for obvious reasons, but Zero Punctuation has now reviewed Mass Effect!

Watch at your own peril :D

Thought it was very funny! Agree about NPC's telling their life story as if you had a film crew there and were doing a documentary lol.

I reckon that was his least humorous review so far. Best bit about it was the Spaceman track right at the end :)

well completed my first run through last night, got to level 42 and completed most of the side quests, but had to give up on them as my xbox has scratched the disc again , i only had it repaired saterday .
