8800Gtx - low fps

The CPU is the bottleneck here, I went from the same X2 cpu to an intel quad and gained a few thousand 3dmarks and a much higher average fps with an 8800GTS 320MB.

what's your budget ? you're going to need a new mobo, cpu, ram.

So basing the besy low cost<>high performance solution:

P35 mobo @ £85
Quad 6600 @ £150
2GB DDR800 @ £47

You're looking at around £280 for a core system upgrade to make nice use of that GFX card you have really.

A cheaper C2D would also benefit greatly over the AMD.

Ah oke thanks, i wanna make it work like i intended it too tbh .. Plus its Christmas ! So ill let u make me a wish list :P :D

The ram i have now is DDR800 i think ?

"AMD Dual-Core Optimizer - The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer can help improve some PC gaming video performance by compensating for those applications that bypass the Windows API for timing by directly using the RDTSC (Read Time Stamp Counter) instruction. Applications that rely on RDTSC do not benefit from the logic in the operating system to properly account for the affect of power management mechanisms on the rate at which a processor core's Time Stamp Counter (TSC) is incremented. The AMD Dual-Core Optimizer helps to correct the resulting video performance effects or other incorrect timing effects that these applications may experience on dual-core processor systems, by periodically adjusting the core time-stamp-counters, so that they are synchronized."

There are more ways to deal with a problem without hurling cash at it mate.

Overclock the CPU for a start - most 3800X2's will do 2.6GHz with a freezer 64 Pro Aircooler (Thats FX 60 Speeds)

Also, what drivers are you using.

What BIOS?

:)
