my gainward gtx vram is overheating i'm persuming itsthe memory because the card is artifact-ing and freezing the screen about 2-4 mins of playing games, this started happening a month ago but buy running the fan at 100% through rivatuner all seemed well.
Rivatuner only detects it running at 60-65c which again why i put it down to video memory, can i strip down the stock cooler and apply AC5 to all the parts or do i need to purchase thermal pads,i want to be sure before i invest in a after market cooler. Thanks in advance

It's not even been overclocked since new 7months ago everthing is standard at the mo,tried to run 3d mark 06 on standard settings at the whole pc freezes up after 30 seconds, have to do a manual boot to get everthing back to normal.

thanks for the point in the right direction romperstomper i've lowered the memory from standard 900/1800 to 850/1700 and runs all my bench marks flawlessly so it looks likes it could be the ram over heating, thanks again

Mine was crashing at 65C
Put one of the mentioned heatsinks on and its more like 40C now and no probs clocking it at all.

your welcome,I would wait a couple of days then slowly overclock again :)

Should not crash at 65 c though ,I have had mine stable at 90c although mine is a 8800gtx .

yes mine to i brought the gt and gave my son the gtx(which is the one thats causing the problems) but to be honest i never thought that by under clocking i could solve the problem, thanks again :D

Update i just installed the HR-03 plus cooler and its brought my core temp down to 39C idle and 55C on load but i'm still getting bad artifacting and system freezes,it even happened while i was typing this out had to wait 3 mins for everthing to work again, this is still down to memory cause if i lower the mem settings in riva tuner 3d mark will at least run to the end, now RMA isn't an issue now because i've modded the card by installing the cooler is there anything else i could try to find out the main cause of these freezes..
