Okay, so I'm pretty sure that I'll be going for one of these in the next few days. Would any of you advise me to go with a different 22" monitor? This is about the limit of what I can spend right now.

Is there any other monitor I should consider?

Thanks for the comments guys. I rang up OCUK sales this morning but they said they couldn't guarantee that their stock are S panels. A bit worrying but he did say most of the ones they are getting now are.

I think I will go for it anyway, from what I've heard the A panel is still nothing to be sneezed at after you've run a calibration on it.

I returned my initial one from an e-tailer as it was a 'C' panel. The other retailer confirmed to me that their stock was all from Slovakia, and all panels made in Slovakia were made at the Samsung factory there. In either case, it is an outstanding screen.

Check these articles: -

Some things to note:-

1. Apparently all panels since May should be S for the 226 BW
2. The new 22" Samsung Pebble covered in the first link is supposed to be quite good, and a Samsung panel to boot (according to the OCUK product page anyway)

I've got this monitor and I love it. There seems to be one black pixel stuck and a green one, but this green one only shows up on a dark background, can anybody explain this? Also, how do I find out what "panel" I have and what exactly is a panel? Cheers.

There's a method to check by just going through the OSD somehow, you'll have to google it as I've lost the link, it was on one of the samsung forums

I received my 226BW on Tuesday and I have an M-ME22H0CAA-1002 which apparently is the S panel :)

Now on the service menu the type of panel is more cryptic. I got the "M-ME22H0CAA-1002" which is the S panel. People have also seen the "M-ME22H0CLA-1002" which is the A panel. The giveaway is apparently the second letter in the "CAA-xxxx" which means: A=Samsung (S panel), L=AUO (A panel), I=CPT (C panel) or D=CMO (C panel).

Thats the one ^^

You have to set your brightness and contrast to 0 then do something with the buttons and it'll bring you into the service menu.

Should have mine this tuesday or wednesday with luck.

I got mine mid year when OC got a batch of the crap ones, C or D something, unknown, unnamed, unlabelled.
Out of the box it the colours were awful, not too bad when using an ICM file with Wincolor on XP32bit, since moving to XP64 with new build I have not got it right yet, everything is blue/purple, snow area in WOW look purple :(
