I saw a nice 2004 Hyundai Coupe today in the blue above, and started getting naughty thoughts about owning one of the 2.7l V6's.... not the most powerful car in the carpark, but certainly one of the more (dare I say it...) beautiful!

Does anyone here own one of these? According to reviews, the engine is a little underpowered but I'd still have one at the bargainous sub 7k pricetag!

My cuz has a 56 plate 2.0 litre. Its not a bad car I guess. FWD tho, and not really much power (140bhp in 2.0 guise). Its reasonably well made, and is fairly comfortable. Sod all space in the back though.

I hate the Hyundai Coupe. They've managed to basically create a car by ripping off interesting stying bits from other, more interesting cars. This means when you glance a Hyundai Coupe out of the corner of your eye and go 'Oooh whats that!' and then find out its a another cheap plastic crappy Hyundai Coupe you are filled with embarrasment.

With the i30, Hyundai have shown they can now at last make good cars. The Coupe, however, is not one.

A chap at work bought a 2.0l last year, brand new, corking motor for the money tbh, not the best handling in the world, and the engine is old technology, but it looks good, the interior is a nice place to be, and they are cheap.

They had a pic of the new one on top gear. Not only was it Drop Dead Gorgeous. It was rear wheel drive.

If you want one wait for that.

The hyundai coupe is actually not that bad a car. Its quite cheap inside but is quite nice to drive.

The 2.7l V6 on the other hand is pathetic. It has a paltry 170ish bhp which for the engine size is just not good enough. It also drinks like a fish and isn't that cheap to insure.

The 2.0 model is good although avoid the 1.6 as it doesn't suit the type of ar.

I own a black 2.0l. Build quality is amazing. Full leather interior, none of this cheap looking plastic you seem to get these days from Ford, VW etc. You also get an amzing number of gadgets for the money, cruise control, electric windows / sunroof, A/C etc. Yes it is under powered 143bhp I think mine is, but it looks like a fast sports car without any modifications. Insurance is cheap aswell, the 1.6 is a group 8, 2.0l a group 10 and I'm not sure on the 2.7.

I'm looking forward to the next one. Rear wheel drive and either a 3.8-liter V-6 or a 2l turbo.

Just a shame I bet it doesn't look as good as the concept.

Jeeze, leather seats, electric windows and a sunroof! What are we living in the early 90s!

I was meaning more in regards to the full leather dasboard and doors etc. The number of VW and other European cars that I've been in with cheap crappy plasticy interiors is amazing for the money that they charge.

Chap at work paid 12k for his brand new from a broker, thats bloody cheap in my book.

All production car manufacturers do this, there is nothing unique about Hyundai in this respect.

You have a serious problem if you get embarrassed simply by looking at Hyundai Coupes.
