Oh lord -there i was thinking weather! hmm might have to re think the strategy slighlty

The theme has been chosen by trip, the winner of the last round. As we have had a few time issues this round and there are only 2 weeks and 2 days till the end of the month which also incorporates Christmas and new year celebrations we are extending the closing date of this round too the end of the first week in January 6-01-08 (midnight), also after this date we will have a position for a new judge available and will begin seeking replacement. Good luck all and have a Merry Christmas

he he, didn't want to make it too easy.

after all, i'll probably never get to choose a theme again.

I'm torn between applying for a judge or carrying on entering. On the one hand, I need more purpose to get out there and take pictures. On the other, I'm living in a rubbishly small flat in a rubbish area without much inspiration. Hmmmm....

I'll definitely enter something this round though :)

I'm not usre about the border on my pylon.

I wanted to pick up the blue from the sky and the light grey from where the sunlight hits the steelwork.

It looks just the way I want it when I view it on my photo editor...

But against the deep blue of the forum, it looks washed out.

Are the pictures judged separately on a blank screen or are they judged against the blue of the forum?

Gaffer - wow. I love that.
*smile*

Thankyou. Encouragement is always nice.

But at the back of my mind, I'm thinking that I'll get crucified because I am so categorically ignoring the rule of thirds. I tried an off-centre crop, but the pattern is so strong that it just looks wrong. I tried positioning the camera in the corner of the plyon, but that was just messy and confused.

praise where it's due mate.
rule of thirds is a guide, with symetry like that it makes no sense to start cropping it off centre.

Lots of good ideas for this one. Power stations, battleships, power lines, batteries, engines, muscles, etc etc.

Annoying thing is I've done in my hip again and can't get out :(

love that shot gaffer, althou i think i would have shopped out the bird - bottom left.

My eyes keep going over to it now i know its there.

Excellent shot thou :)

That "bird" is an airliner. The perspective of the 15mm makes it vanishingly small. I have been wondering about removing it - it might dissapear when I am back on broadband after Christmas.
