Gran Turismo 5 Prologue

The lighting in this game is incredible, it's what really sets it apart from the other next gen racers graphically.

As much as I love DLC I think I'll buy the disc version for the resell value. I can't wait to see some more city tracks, this and MGS4 early next year should be good :)

edit: never mind, got the MGS4 release date wrong. I could have sworn threespeech said summer/autumn but that was for Killzone 2 and GTAIV (!). MGS4 is a great unknown.

From around September or October, the PS3 will move into top gear: that’s when Killzone 2 will arrive, to truly take first-person shooters into the next-gen era. And – more excitingly in my book – when LittleBigPlanet – will arrive. Again, LBP will provide an unknown gameplay experience – firstly, because it is so unlike any other game and, secondly, because it will be up to us to define the gameplay. As the new video of LBP shows, it’s going to look amazing – we’ll get the whole low-down from developer Media Molecule next year (currently, they’ve got their heads down and are cracking on with finishing it).

At about the same time, we’ll be able to play what is already shaping up to be the game of 2008 – and what will certainly be the most talked-about, no doubt generating column inches in the news pages of the papers. We are talking, of course, about Grand Theft Auto IV.

September to October :/

MGS4 won't be out till Summer/Autumn 2008. :( That's according to threespeech.

I wouldn't be suprised if we don't see MGS4 until this time next year, but aslong as its good when it finally arrives and doesnt turn into another Duke Nukem Forever, its all good. :)

I hope it will be out in March. At least it will definitely be out next year and a worldwide release is good. The recent news about MPO being combined with the actual game is great though.

After finishing COD4 I thought the soundtrack was really good, then I looked in the credits it was done by Harry Gregson-Williams. It just put me in the mood for Metal Gear again :p

All these ninja edits are confusing me :D MGS is March, Killzone like you said is probably fall next year, GT4 is definitely next year but it could go into fall / winter and FXIII is looking more like 2009. Is GT5 (not prologue) late next year or early next year?

There's also little rumors going around about LBP beta on Christmas day and possibly Home beta. These are rumors though, so take them with a pinch of salt.

Just done the integra single car challenge that was fun!! Manage to get 1 st on the 4th go :o and was by only 0.61S. Slip streamed the last car all the way round the last bend waiting for the right time to pounce and just sneaked passed him over the line. The AI give a much better race than previous versions constantly over taking and slip streaming each other, actually racing each other for once.

Ok its as simple as this, jaggies aside GT5 cars are close to real.

The lighting , shaders , detail and car modelling is not surpased on any other racing game im aware of at this time.

PGR4 isnt close to this detail or quality in cars:

You say this is not close?

GT looks amazing, but to say PGR4 is nowhere close to this is not really going to happen, GT has always been more about graphics than gameplay I would be shocked if it was not the best looking PS3 game so far, but come on PGR4 is hardly a dog to look at

Please can you start another thread if you want to get into a PGR4 vs Prologue debate this thread is supposed to be about the game and its going to turn into another PS3 vs 360 debate at this rate.

Can we have some in game shots please? :p

And the GT car is clearly better looking, the tyres on the PGR car for example look ****.

Why the GT one is not ingame either, and those are slick tyres on PGR4, do you require a pic with treaded tyres?

It's still a fair bit off to my eyes. Look at the mesh detailing for example, it's just a totally flat texture. One thing that i really didnt like about the (demo!) i played of PGR4 was it really did feel like there was a lot of slowdown, which i did not notice in the previous PGR games

Back on topic with GT5P I've had a dabble on it and the handling really feels better than the demo that was realeased a couple of months ago. Both the sensation of speed and the 'floaty' car feeling have been somewhat eliminated, and as someone else pointed out even the slower cars are pretty damn good fun to drive :D

Edit: I have to hand it to the PGR guys though, the environments are really spectacular.

Errrr yeah PGR cars do look pretty much like that in game, do they add more polygons to the model or something in replay/photo mode? PGR has AA on in game, off course they add some nice effects to replays in both games, but the base model of the car is not really changing.

So would you say PGR4 is not even close to GT5? how many generations has GT5 skipped ahead?

i always prefered the lesser BHP cars in GT though... much more "fun" racing a mildly tuned 200-250bhp motor compared to some 700bhp race car...

as long as the final game lives up to the billing i can see myself potentially purchasing a steering wheel.

Long shot, do you reckon an oldschool MS SideWinder steering wheel with forcefeedback would work on the PS3?

It's not generations like wedgie said, but it does look better. The lighting in PGR4 isn't as realistic as GT5. Most first party games this year on PS3 have been very highly praised of raising the bar graphically on next gen platforms.

Also, to say GT is more about graphics than gameplay is ridiculous.

No successful game is more about graphics than gameplay because any game always boils down to how good the game plays.

Oh i can agree with you to an extent. For example in Forza 2 a 350bhp 350Z was much more fun to drive than making it ridiculously overpowered, it's can be a fine balance. Also take into account that some cars just technically cant handle that amount of power! I really cant wait for the full game so i can tune some of my favourite cars to perfection, grr gimme now!! :D

What 1st party games are these?

And GT has not changed it's gameplay since it was released, as someone already said the game has become a bit of a chore rather than fun, who could forget those sleep enducing endurance races in GT3 for instance.

Anyway I am not slagging the game, its a genuine great looking game, I am just doubting that nothing else is close to it :) But it seems normal for this form to gush and gosh over any PS3 release, then 2 weeks later its forgotten about.
