From Fauds, Fudzilla for what it's worth...

According to current plans, Nvidia plans to introduce its Geforce 9 series high end part codenamed G100 around march 2008.

We don’t know many details, but we do know that the chip should end up faster than two G92 D8E dual PCB card which is scheduled for launch in late January.

It will be on time to launch with G96 which is a mainstream part.

That's the puppy, right there! Bring it on!

March is build time then. For sure.

Not sure how accurate those expected performance figures are though. Twice as fast as a 8800GTX is fine and expected. Twice as fast as the January dual board D8E sounds a bit much. Lets hope though :D

Not bad. I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed the release given the recent AMD Graphics news.

What? That it's coming out in 2008 rather than delayed until 2009?

edit: "It" being the R700

Hm... Delaying G100 doesn't seem like something they'd do. Also, from a development point it's stupid.

They could release G100, then have its refresh part ready to steal R700's release. Imagine the sales with a new product that not only owns the previous generation but has NO competition.

You people seem to think nVidia is more out to get AMD than to make money.

Depends how much this thing is really going to cost. Not a lot of people will shell 400 quid to get one of those for another card from Nvidia coming out after 2-3 months that performs about the same and cost much less.
Would be interesting to see how powerful this chip will be eventually.

I dunno, the last time nV really screwed up and made an underperforming part they ended up paying for it in the form of ATi taking that generation with their 9 series.

Speaking of which, both nVidia and AMD are heading into their opposition's 'great card' series naming...

Er, how shall I put this.

The next will be nVidia's 9000 series.
AMD's will be their 4000 series.
