I just watched this and I was absolutely blown away by it. Hollywood should take a lesson because this is an absolute masterpeice. Everything about it was perfect. The acting, the effects, the visuals, the sound (the sound design in particular impressed me) the script etc. It was also quite emotional which is a rare thing to feel when watching most of the trash that comes out of Hollywood.

Thanks to everyone on here who recommended it.

Yeah, it's a great film. I watched it at university around March (auditorium + big projector!) and we had it in Spanish, with English subtitles. Really enjoyable film, and great acting like you say.

I can't imagine why anyone would want to watch it in any language other than the original. I've forgotten the name given to the process where they lip sync another language onto the film, but it would ruin the film's ambiance. The subtitles actually work quite well IMO.

Dubbed.

I'd sooner not watch a dubbed film than ruin the experience.

Look out for another Spanish Classic, which deals with children and Franco's fascist Spain

Spirit of the Beehive
Two young sisters living in a small village in the 1940s become fascinated with Boris Karloff's classic Frankenstein film and set out to find the Monster. In Spanish with English subtitles. [1973]

Fantastic, beautiful film. It's coming to HD in November :)

The first thing I did was check if it's out on Blu Ray. At least I hope it's coming out on that and not HD-DVD.

If there is an exclusive one way or another it will probably be timed anyway so it will eventually be out on both HD formats

Fantastic film. Beautifully shot.

Apparently Optimum are releasing Pan's Labyrinth, Wolf Creek and The Host on HD DVD and Blu-ray on 12th November.

I thought it was an amazing film, very atmospheric and with a great story.

Cheers - stuck it in the sky+ box

:)

Dubbed films waste of time - as most others feel here.

Pans was a great film - check out Chronos and Devil's Backbone if you want more of Del Toro.

Del Toro box set by any chance? :D

Big fan of his work. Loved Pans and Chronos, not got round to watching Devils yet :)

Stangely not, bought the individuals instead of the box set because of extras.

Funnily enough watched Devils but not Cronos yet :D
