2x HIS 3870 & ABIT IP35PRO motherboard

hi im on a abit ip35 pro motherboard, (now i no its not crossfire enabled)
but when i run 3dmark 06 with 1 card installed i get 12600 3dmarks
now when i put in a second card in the Black x4 slot i can get 17030 3dmarks
does this mean my gfx cards are running in crossfire? even tho the motherboard does not support it.
i have 2 x HIS 3870 512 gfx cards
allso when i play COD4 there is no frame rate improvement at all with 2 cards, its even worse with 2 cards i get framerate drops in certain areas of the map when playing
even with the crysis benchmark mod there is only 1 fps difference
maybe its a ATI Driver issue ?
the reason im asking is im thinking of getting a Asus Maximus Formula SE Intel X38
im not shure *** to do

If your seeing huge boosts in your 3dMark06 scores with 2 cards it must be working, Crysis doesn't support crossfire however, so this will be why you are not seeing any differences in that. Probably will be the same with CoD4.

if 1 slot is 4x and the other is 16x then the 4x cannot run at 8x 4x is as fast as it can go

CoD4 runs fine for me, but NOT on the Crysis hotfix drivers, I had to run the standard 7.11's.

I get a good 100+ FPS at 1920x1200 in most places with Crossfire Enabled.

I have a question. I got a 3850/256 i am happy with it but i like to run the games at the native 1680x1050 res and playing games like GOW (loads of textures) i feel it lacks VRAM. Is it a good idea to crossfire it?

Did you install on top of the Crysis hotfix drivers or did you uninstall/ safe mode / Driver Sweep / reboot then install of 7.11's?.

your better off getting vista, it uses system ram as Vram

i've got no problems with my 3870's in vista 64 with 7.11 cat's

the crysis drivers were for me only good for crysis and crap for everything else.
