I woke up to a loud bang and I heard my dad running downstairs saying some **** has just hit your car, I was like great :(

Seems the guy that crashed the car . . . escaped, and the kid next door saw him struggling to get out and run, but he got away. I've seen the car before and it belongs to some Polish guys who have young lads driving and most probably without the being registered properly and/or without insurance. The lad a few doors away said he ran a car joint where a number of them drive uninsured.

The black Golf is my Sister's car and we're quite frankly lucky! It went over a lamp post ramp which took the car flying and somehow miraculously did a 180 degrees turn! It's a really tight spot and the lamp post it hit was next literally touching my car but I couldn't see much, so I'll have to check it when I wake up again.

Happy days :(

Damn thats not a good start to the day. You should've posted it in motors though so we could see how many posts it would take for it to become your fault and something you had done wrong ;)

Would you mind getting a vernier caliper out and checking your distance from the kerb ;)

1) The insurance issue is a drag, but having lost my no-claims last year I can vouch that even if you lose your no claims (if they are uninsured) then you'll still be able to get reasonably priced insurance

2) Car accidents are harsh and the world is cruel. Be very glad no-one was hurt.

Its you. A BMW saloon / estate on its side, what ever model it is, it will be wide.

A BMW you say? Yes, it must be HUGELY wide!

Well, i would hazard a guess at 66inches wide, which makes 5 feet 5 inches, now judging by his slightly elevated position, the boots he will be wearing, and the camber of the road, i would estimate the chap is little or no more than 5feet 3inches.

Yes, hes a tall chap for sure! Especially for a fireman!

It is good that no innocent members of the public were hurt, can't say the same about the driver though, would be better off if he hadn't been wearing a seatbelt and perished.

What's the damage to your car dark_shadow? Anything? Looks like it could have been a whole lot worse for you?

I had a similar experience many years ago, when I was still at my parents. My mum was woken by the police at 3am enquiring as to my whereabouts, when she informed them that I was fast asleep upstairs their tone changed.

It seemed that some ****** had stolen my car, they tried to pull them over and in the ensuing chase the thief had rammed the patrol car with my motor and escaped!

It was recovered two days later with the front end stoved in. :(

I feel your pain.

Unbelievable . . .

We're all very lucky! Absolutely no damage at all!

The small fireman came up to me asking me get rid of any pictures I had taken. I said it was for insurance purposes and also the neighbour wanted them to send it along with a letter of complaint to the city council. He buggered off. Mind you I would be suspicious if some fool had his DSLR out at 6 in the morning :o

It was chaotic in the morning though, the whole road was blocked and the traffic jam lasted hours! Police came with van full of dogs. Nothing more than inconvenience really, only lost 4 hours sleep!

Still very lucky though!

Glad to hear that your cars had no damage :) also nobody has the right to tell you to delete your photos, you took them in a public place and there are no laws restricting what you can or can't photograph there, around military or sensitive places you may have problems but anywhere else you're fine :)
