Does your town have xmas lights up?

Howdy,

I fail to see any xmas lights on in Brighton & Hove. Fair enough the hotels and the Marina have made an effort, but apart from that it's not very festive!

When I was kid, the streets would be festooned in lights and stuff, and some Z list celeb would switch them on.

Does you town have lights on, or are they too scared in case they offend someone somewhere?

WTF is happening!
 
Yeah. Town and the city I work in. Been up for weeks and weeks.

Not just xmas either.
 
They will be telling us all to use low energy light bulbs to save electricity and the planet next. Oh hang on a minute....

Waste of money and a waste of power. :(

Really where?

I drove down the sea front yesterday and only saw stuff on hotels. I am talking about the lights of old, when they were all over the place, criss crossing the streets etc. Not a few sporadic ones here and there.
 
Lights are up hear in York. It's lovely late night shopping there with the lights and the market being there, Now all we need is snow. :)
 
Yes, they also tried to put lights on the poles coming onto and off the bridge, but they managed to bend the light poles and the idea was abandoned :D
 
In southampton there are lights up in the center, however there is no "christmas symbolism" whatsoever. Just pretty lights.

No christmas tree's, no santa's, no reindeers, no snowmen, nothing even vaguely 'christmas-y'. I guess the council are too afraid of offending people. :/
