Good morning all,

I'm getting a bit bored with games and need something more scary. Bioshock isn't amazing and Hellgate has got a bit repetitive. The kind of games I'm looking for are things like the Silent Hill series, Condemned, stuff like that. Anything I might be missing out on?

I would like to see some more supernatural horrors too. Condemned was good but eventually i got used to it. Alone in the Dark is coming next year, maybe that will be good.

Hmmm, sounds like you need "the suffering: the ties that bind". Not sure how old that is now but it does mess with your head, and some of the tricks are very very good. Turn off the lights and crank the sound, its great fun.

There was a sequel to this as well which I'll now have to go and track down

I did not like Call of Cthulhu as it was too clunky and unrefined and the enemy spawn points are not even concealed. The Penumbra Overture is a game I keep meaning to buy, but am still too busy with other games.

Survival horror seems to be a dying breed on the PC and even the consoles, which is a shame as it's a genre that I really enjoy. It's weird that I find most horror movies funny while horror games scare the hell out me.

It's not PC but Eternal Darkness on Gamecube was very much a psychological horror game. Lots of weirdness and messing with your head in that game.

If your a fan of the Alien movies try Alien vs Predator the original. A bit old (1999?) but scared most people.

There was a thread of the most horrible games to play (scare factor wise) and this game was one of the top ones given a shout out.

Would anyone class System Shock 1 and 2 as part of the psychological horror genre? First one really did scare me, to the point where I simply could not play some levels with the lights out and headphones on. System Shock 2 wasn't so bad but still creepy in a lot of places. A very atmospheric game.
