P5K-Premium (New Member)

i wouldn't consider dual gpu's a non starter, i get some great scaling with my 3870's.

any recent review will tell the same story too, i can't speak for SLI as i haven't used that since 6800 series but crossfire has very real gains.

The SATA issue only affects certain HDs. I believe the Caviar RE16 is one as mines did not go well with any of the ones I used (constant drop outs of non boot drive and inability to use RAID for more than 2 minutes without it disappearing).

H'mm cool, one more question on your Asus motherboard their should be a Revision number i.e. 1.02G 1.03G or something similar, what does yours say just out of interest. :)

where should this be? I can't see it anywhere, but there's a whole load of stuff plugged into it right now.

CPU-Z says Rev 1.xx under model - then Rev.A2 beside chipset.

No problem, it's stamped on the motherboard itself - it's normally where the name of the board is "Asus P5K Premium" then in small letters "Rev 1.02" etc. Basically under where your graphics card will be. I was just curious to see if Asus had brought out a new revision to sort out the sata issue.

I've done some trolling with this board & it does seem that people with Seagate drives appear to have no problems with the P5K Premium.

I can see the Name and there's no Revision number next to it :)

I'm using a Seagate 7200.11 500GB for Windows and Maxtor MaXline III 300GB & DiamondMax 10 250GB (Which I think are SATA2 - have NCQ, not sure though) drives for storage.

I bet you do

Toying with the idea of dual 3870's or 3850's early next year, seen some pretty impressive benching with those babies

I think ATI are well ahead of Nvidia when it comes to multiple GPU's, they certainly seem to be progressing with more conviction anyhow.

How's the setup/driver situation?

Rock on!!

I'll have a look tonight for the revision number and let you know..

The card's coming out anyhow to apply a bit of ceramique before I begin the OC under Vista again, wish me luck.
