My second set of memory sticks just died. It was a Crucial Ballistix 2GB Kit ddr2 667. No overclocking or anything. Fortunately I bought some ocuk value ram yesterday. Anyone else had the same problems?

No, it is not rubbish - your luck might have been rubbish instead. Do a search to find otherwise, good luck on the RMA.

crucial RMA is the best i've dealt with. i dont even care if my ram expires. you phone them (free phone). they give you an RMA number. post it with the number, to scotland, £4 next day delivery.
i sent it on a monday and had 2 brand new of sticks pc2 8500, on thursday morning in the post. :D
plus the memory is spot on aswell :)

Got 4 sticks of 5300 and I have had to send both sets back over the past 3 months, only to find that my board over volts the RAM so I now have it running at 900mhz 4-4-4-12 1.9v I have custom fitted a 120mm fan over it to keep it nice and cool and its been perfect for nearly 1 month so far :)

RMA service is usually about 4 working days so I'm not too bothered!

Crucial Ballistix aren't great - only their RMA service is (probably the best in the business) - run em (or most DDR2 RAM, D9 chips especially) at 2.2 or above and they will die quite quickly - I'd usually say don't expect more than 18 months with D9GMH at 2.2 but Ballistix seem prone to dying a lot earlier than that sometimes...

And they still can't touch the g.skills 6400HZ kits imo... had one set running just shy of 1300MHz on 5-5-5-18 with 2.2volts for slightly under 18months before they started failing.

I`m on my third set of replacements was about to RMA these but decided to play with voltages a getting bsods and lockups straight away so tried 1.8v crashed 1.9v crashed 2.0v bang on the money great 4-4-4-12 @907 1:1 ratio with cpu working fine and DANDY

No problems with Ballistics here either. I suspect they are amongst the most popular RAm so will have more 'failure posts' in forums for that reason. Still they seem to be compatible with just about everything and the the lifetime 48h RMA turnaround swings it for me.

I would never recomend or buy balistics. Who needs ram running at over 800mhz? You wont notice any difference in games or every day use. Just something to play with. Not worth the trouble as they are prone to dieing. They have such good rma service because they deal with it so much.
