my first speeding ticket

It was clocked at 55 in a 30....while it sounds bad its up hill and a pedestrian free zone with no pavement etc, the other thing being doing 30 up the hill brings on a near stall in 3rd.

change down to 2nd then:rolleyes:
i wouldnt bother arguing about the camera van position ect,you were nearly doubling a 30mph limit so deserve the fine/points infact you could get court for that speed and 6 points.
i will be the first person to admit that i speed but never in 30 zones, not worth the hassle

its just a normal, notice of intended prosecution, stating the speed they clocked me at

notice of prosecution?

So not just a normal speeding ticket then? (never got one - don't know how it goes)

if not a ticket... then you could well be screwed and get banned

i dont want to come across like i'm defending myself, because i will admit i dont always stick to the limit but never excessivly, its just a shame i was late for work that day and didnt get the brakes on sharp enough when i saw the van. Just surprised its come in at 55, thought i was more like 45...

an nip(notice of intended prosecution) is just the official name of the ticket and doesnt mean your going to court;)

yeah its always a shame when you get caught.end of the day if you speed and get caught you cant blame anyone else or claim you been hard done by.ive been done 3 times in the 14 years ive been driving and have never complained about being caught because end of the day i was breaking the law <shrugs>

If a car stalls at lets say 800rpm, and you are "near stall" doing 30 mph in third gear, so lets say 1000rpm, then that would suggest that a 5000rpm red line (assuming a diesel) would be 150mph. Just what speed does it do in top?!

after doing some reading on the area, it seems if i did have to go to court, the type of road and layout is taken into consideration etc. I've been driving for 4 years and i was over-taking at the time. But hopefully it wont come down to a court visit

1.2 renault clio....there is no need to get anal about this to try and degrade me

as i've explained its up hill and a dual carriage way-like road. Its not a pedestrian zone at all, it would be impossible for people to be anywhere near that stretch.

Will contesting it increase the punishment?

more than likely.

they can park where they want. More or less.

I got done for 76 in a 50.Luckily only got 3 points and £60.

That was on a huge dual carriage way in the middle of no where and I only saw two other cars in about 40mins.. Take it on the chin. You won''t get out of it and if you take it to court you will at least get fined more and probably 4 points rather than 3.

oh ok so you had a similar difference of 25 mph...did you end up in court?

nope 3 points and £60. It''ll tell you in the letter if there offering you the fixed penalty. if they are take it. As 25mph over is a lot. It was a lot for a 50mph speed limit let alone a 30.

Mate of mine was caught doing 56 in a 30, got 5 pts + £60 fine. He was very lucky, as he was within his first 2 years of driving, so 6 would've been bye-bye licence.

Quite... don't they teach you kids how to drive these days?

I've not been done for speeding, killed anyone, got a parking ticket or crashed yet. Gone and said it now, haven't I :o

First time I got done for speeding it was 3 points £60 fine too.

I can't remember if it was for 52 in a 30 zone or 82 in a 50 zone. It was on a stretch of road that goes 50 -> 30 -> 50 and it was years ago so I don't remember really.

Yep, you'd need 1st gear for sure:rolleyes:

nsx's are quite tractable at low revs tbh.my m3 will do 30mph ok in 4th without stalling so im sure a 1.2 clio wont be too much of a problem;)

to op-55mph in a 30mph zone and overtaking,i woudl definately not risk court with that, you will get atleast 6 points;)
