Hi all. I currently have a Motorola V3.:( I know, I know. I've had it for about 14 months now but I'm fed up with it. It seems to run out of memory for text messages, both sent and received, too soon. I've never been able to discover my mate's Nokia phone with Bluetooth and frankly the Motorola UI is quite rubbish. Granted Motorola can make their phones look nice but then you have to turn them on.

I also am tiring of the clamshell design and I quite like the Nokia 6300 and Sony Ericsson K800i design. As for what I need from my new phone? Well definitely Bluetooth and a decent photo camera if possible, but then anything would be better than the camera on the V3.

I just send texts and make the odd phone call so I don't need a high end PDA type phone. I don't want to spend more than £120 ish if possible. I'm with Virgin Mobile (PAYG) so a phone on that network would be fantastic. I've just read about the Nokia 3110 Evolve. It seems quite nice and environmentally friendly in terms of how it is made, the packaging it comes in and even the charging process. Apparently the phone will stop using electricity from the mains when it has charged up, to save electricity. Now I am interested in this, will the Nokia 6300 or Sony Ericsson K800i do this?

I'd also like a phone that is fairly light and has a nice colourful/hi-res display. So which one of the two phones should I choose? Or can anyone recommend something else that is similar?

Have no experience with nokia, but the k800i is a very good phone, well known for its cybershot 3.2mp camera.

I'm currently hovering over the buy button on a 12month contract worth £200 on a k810i. (Same phone as k800i but re-designed)

Thanks for posting Camalot. I'm the reverse. I've used Nokia phones before and they were OK. I haven't used Sony Ericsson phones before but my brother does have a K750i. Course you can't buy them now so I've looked over the Sony Ericsson range and the K800i looks to be as close to the K750i, in terms of design, as can be.

I've just noticed the K510i on the Virgin Mobile site doesn't look as bad as I thought it did. The silver buttons in the middle of the phone I thought were just decorative silvery bits. Hmm I could add that in then. I think the fact I've had Nokia phones before but have shortlisted two Sony Ericsson phones tells me I will end up with a Sony Ericsson phone this time.

The K810i looks quite nice on the whole, but the buttons ruin it for me. I'd rather press a button that has the number on it rather than press a smaller button where the number is next to the button. Sounds silly I know but I know what I like! :D

I just got a k810i to replace my k750i, and to be honest it doesn't quite feel right compared to the k750i. Maybe its just an adjustment, but its slightly too wide compared to the 750i. My parents also just got 6300's on their renewal and it seems a solid little phone even if the square dpad is pretty odd. But if theres a choice between the two then the k810i would be (and was) my choice any day of the week.

Whats the "best pic" like on the K810i? Also wondering what web browsing is like and using programs like MSN Messenger?

I'm picking up my K810i tomorrow, the noble blue colour.

The camera pretty good certainly much better than the k750i.

I haven't used the phone for the internet etc yet as I have no idea what my tariff (dolphin 35) charges for web use.

Cheers all. I'm leaning towards the k800i especially as I can get it from Virgin Mobile with £40 credit which would last me ages. :D

Camalot - In that pic, the phone on top as it were, I hate those buttons. Just not what I like. The phone underneath I do like. :)

The one on the bottom is the K800i. :)

Brothers just showed me trackID. If your out down town, watching TV or listening to the radio, and hear a song you like, you can use trackID on your phone to record 10 second. This will then be sent over the web and return with the track information which then can be txt'd to you for safe keeping :cool:

Sounds cool. A Sony Ericsson thing I take it? I've never used their phones but as I've said brother has one (k750i) and I like. Plus I've used the interactive demo of the k800i on their site. Seems a little easier/more intuitive to use than the 6300. :)

I quite like the buttons on the k810i actually!

It's a Sony thing i think, they have some pretty cool apps built in and downloadable. My brother showed me a mini movie he made using his phone and the photos/vidoes hes took with them on VideoDJ (or something like that)

Pretty nice phones if you ask me!
