Somebody will fall for this........

It's obvious this guy is trying to con careless people.

If he is genuinely trying to sell a picture then why didn't he include details of the actual item like file size, file type, image resolutions, will email item to buyer or provide a link to download the file, etc. For a £600 image, he didn't provide any of the related info.

Instead of providing the above infomation, the eye-catching-details that he provided are

200GB 7200RPM Hard Drive
4098MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x2048)
13.3 inch WXGA (1280 X 800) WHITE LED Display 300nits with TrueLife™ with Integrated WEB Camera

only bid if you want the item described

He's officially a con man, nothing less than that.

i remember reading about a similar case with x-box 360's when they came out. i dont agree with it, but if they didnt read it properly shame on them.

Quite entertaining how he's from the Channel islands too, not exactly a simple process of taking a drive down to see him, :(

wonder what would happen if the people on Sealand started causing Ebay scams, who would deal with them? :D

If it just said picture of laptop blah blah that would be ok but as he lists a very detailed spec it becomes even more misleading imo..As the spec of the laptop would not matter if it was just a picture you were buying :)

I feel very sorry for anyone who gets suckered by something like this (could be a parent buying it for a present etc who isnt that savvy about pc/& ebay) :(

Just out of curiosity, how can he define the image he's selling is new?

Condition: New

It's like saying the image you are buying is New because nobody has seen it before (including the seller?).

I just sent him the following question for fun

Can you provide detail descriptions of the item please? You haven't described anything about the item you are selling.

Thing is...

If someone buys it for £600, and however unlikley knows a very good lawyer/solicitor/etc i'm sure it could be battled in court I have no idea of the outcome, but i'm sure someone "in the know" could provide a good case in... In which case the seller could end up being dragged through court for the sake of £600.. which isn't really very much money at all.

It also helps to read the first two lines:

you are bidding on a picture of a new dell inspiron m1330 laptop.

Specifications for a dell inspiron laptop:

Why let common sense get in the way of greed though...

Exactly, as much as we laugh (I did) about the common sense of some people it is well easily done that. Imagine if it was your poor old mum that got stiched? I mean if you are regularly comparing prices and then you saw that and in a moment of madness quickly tried to snap it up before someone else, you may well have missed that it was a picture.
Its like those people that sell an xbox 360 BOX. I mean c'mon....no intent to do anything but cause confusion and gain money for nothing. Thieving gits. Go and get a job.

But it's not misleading. He is selling a picture of a Dell Inspiron M1330 laptop, how much clearer could it possibly be?
It is misleading. Specs for the laptop with bold, highlights, larger font.. all whilst the actual description is one line and in the plainest font possible.

And £600 .. he's got a second account or friend to bid it up.

I see he has bought some sulphar and potasium Nitrate in his buyer feedback ,I am pretty sure they are the main ingrediants for gunpowder ...so the spear gun might be the least of anyone who complains worries !!

But the title AND listing clearly states it is a picture.

Secondly, what are you talking about? It's a buy it now listing
