Hey guys,

We've just built a PC here, and we're stressing out over this motherboard!

When we put the OS disk in the drive ( XP ) and boot up the PC we just get " Boot from CD/DVD " and no " press any any key to boot from CD "

It just stays at the " Boot from CD / DVD " screen.

We've tryed other CD drives, with no luck. The OS disks boot fine in other computers.

It's an IDE Drive, SATA HDD. 2GB Geli 800 mhz DDR2 RAM. E2180 CPU. 450W PSU.

Anyone els had this problem?

I've googled, and couldn't find any answer. Could really use some help right now :(

Long shot, but are you using a USB keyboard to select the boot option and not enabling USB keyboard support in BIOS? I have that board in this computer (Vista), and not had any problems so far, but that's my only suggestion :(

If you can get into the BIOS make sure your memory is getting the correct voltage.

On bootup can you press F8 to get to the boot menu?

This option is definetly logical, so I'd be looking at this first as my keyboard won't allow me to press F8 and stuff for the Windows boot menu (ie. to get into safe mode) because it's USB, I need to switch it to the PS2 port using a USB->PS2 convertor to do that. Although I think when a hard drive doesnt' have anything on it and the Windows CD can't detect an OS it'll boot of the disk regarding of you pressing a key to boot from the CD.

Just wanted to point out that on some motherboards this key is also F12 to get the boot menu.

Other than that I'd say the CD, but you've already changed it. I had this problem on a machine that I prepared for a client the other week - turned out my disk was not working and I had to get another Windows OS disk to boot it. The only other option I can think of is trying the DVD drive from the machine that is booting the disk in the machine you are trying to install Windows on to rule out the DVD drive being dodgy.

Thanks for your replys guys.

We can get into the boot option by pressing F8 and selecting the boot device, when we select CD ROM it still just stalls and nothing happens.

We've changed the voltage of the RAM to +0.3V ( it doesn't tell you what the actually voltage is on this board? ) still no success.

We've tried multiple OS disks, and they work on other PC's here just not this one. We've changed the IDE cable from the drive to the board, and tried another drive that we know works. Still nothing.

Also tried updating the BIOS, that didn't work either.
