Calling all pc builders,

I am a 14 year old setting out to build my own pc but i know very little which is why i have bought all the mags, books and been trawling through forums for weeks but i still cant decide on a case. This is my spec so far ( open to suggestions and advice where applicable :) )

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient SLACR 95W Edition" 2.40GHz - OEM
Samsung SpinPoint T 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (RAID 0)
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
Corsair HX 520W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme CPU Cooler (Socket AM2/LGA775)
Scythe S-FLEX 1600RPM Ultra Quiet 120mm Fan - 3/4 Pin

However i will still be waiting to see what Intel's new processors will be like when they release them in Mid 2008 and also when nVidia release their new 9 series cards also next year. Which is why i havent specced a GFX card yet !!!

Go for the full retail Q6600 for the difference in price its not worth getting the OEM version which only carries 1 years warranty compared to the 3 years you get with the retail.
 
ok first of, welcome to the forums.

right what's the purpose of the rig? gaming? will you be overclocking? and what is your budget?

it all looks good so far, i would change the hdd for a wd 500gb aaks but your choice.

ok do you want to have your pc now or do you want to wait? if you want it now get the 8800gt 512mb. it doesn't matter what you do there are always newer things around the corner in technology so you could end up putting it back for some time.

i suggest you look at the lian li range too

Cheap case lian li pc 7+II gets my vote and £100 ish akasa eclipse gets my vote above that price range is anyones pick and personal choice.

i agree 100% with that, so tbh it's your own choice out of those ;)
 
My rig will be mainly for gaming but i will also want to have a crack at overclocking and i will check out all those links you sent me and cheers for GFX card recommendation because there are so bloody many it gets confusing :confused::confused: yh i will also check out the new Lian Li

My budget is going to be >£1000 but i may be stretched a little bit if it is worth it :)

dont know much about many cases but i recently got the cosmos , the quality of the build is excellent i havent finished my own system yet but im very happy with the cosmos its big too so additional stuf can be added at a later date
 
I say get the Cosmos or the P182 Silver edition :P haha Goose, instead of getting the Q6600 OEM version get the Retail version. Its only a few pound more but you get an extra 2years?? warranty with it, just throw away the stock cooler :P
