360 owners with new 175w PSU

Dunno if it's just mine or not, but does anyone else think it's quite noisey? I compared it to my Premium 360 203w, at idle on the dashboard, and it's a lot quieter than the 175w Elite PSU.

Tempted to take it back, again, as I don't think it should be that noisey. This would then be my 3rd Elite in the space of 2 months!
 
I use headphones... seems to do the job nicely! :D

Had a core from November 2006 and just got a Halo3 edition from a few months back. Both are as noisy as eachother TBH. :(

Mines noisey but i repositioned everything in my room & sorted it so that my 360 is further away from me than the telly. I can't hear it when i am ingame now.
 
Are you talking about the PSU or the 360? I got a falcon (175W PSU) 2 weeks ago. The PSU is now silent compared to my last one which made the equivalent amount of noise to my 360 sitting idle on the dashboard.

The fans are a lot quieter - when its on the dashboard I cant really hear the machine. Ive got the BenQ DVD drive and thats MEANT to be quiet but it isn't :p The only difference in noise with the DVD drive is that it gives a different sound.
Cool thing is though, if the game I'm playing isn't streaming from the disk - it will spin down sometimes completely or sometimes to about half which is awesome. When playing the Halo 3 Heroic Pack, it is on the hard drive so my dvd drive spins right down! :)

Yeh sorry if I wasn't clear on that. I'm on about the PSU. The console itself is fine, quieter than my Premium, but the PSU hums away and it's louder than the PSU from my Premium, which I think is odd as it's lower wattage.
Obviously not a problem when playing games, but when watching movies through the Elite it gets really annoying! :mad:

Lmao, mine pumps out some rite vibration.. I can hear it vibrating through my desk, its crazy.

Mines quiet though, my friend DanMc07 has one aswel and he commented on how mine is quiet compared to his old one and his new one.

They were never intended to be quieter but they were meant to stop piracy (which failed completely). People just assumed they should be quieter and the bandwagon started.
 
Luck of the draw, even those with the exact same DVD drive. My new ones louder than my launch day one, neither bother me in the same way the drone of my PC becomes inaudible over time.
