The 'it's Christmas Eve and I'm at work' thread

It always happens on the days you don't want it, we've had a system go down on a site which we're struggling to fix, then found out there was a network problem that the IT deptartment didn't know about!

i've just got back from work, got to pack my stuff up and leave asap
was completely pointless being in today
in a company of 150 people, one person made some money, and one person had an interview which could have waited
and on top of that we didnt get told when we'd be going home, the boss came and sat in his office on a little powertrip waiting to send an email telling us we were free

i'm on a split today, 9.30 - 3.30 i finished (should be 2pm), then i go back for 6pm till probs 10.30pm :(

My manager screwed up my time off, entirely their fault which they admitted but leaving me working all over christmas, 2pm-10pm apart from thursday which is 12-4 pm. I wish I was a student again :(

I'm on nights tonight, however I've made the executive decision to have the office phone forwarded to my mobile and carry out my shift from the pub :D

I did 06-15 to 14-15 delivering stuff around sleaford from all the major online retailers and such.

And the amount of people who are going to have disappointed children tomorrow because they couldnt drag their lazy carcasses out of bed to answer the door to me first thing this morning is HUGE.
Well its 15 actually, Merry Christmas to all you 15, you know who you are, thats right, you are the ones with no presents to give out tomorrow.

You mean 15 people didn't catch you sneaking up to their door, sticking a call card through the letter box and running away as quickly as possible so you coulf get home early to crack open a beer.;)

Royal Mail let me down today, twice. Once, because I work for them and they asked me to come in on my alloted rest day. This proved to be a quiet, and ultimately rather boring 3 hours of delivery.

Secondly, they shut my local delivery office nice and early at about 12:30, and as a result my sister couldn't pick up my christmas present which she had ordered via special delivery. :( Needless to say she, and many other punters were left quite annoyed.

2 days, and then back to work... I need alcohol and sleep.

What do you do?

Work for a software development firm, normally we have about 3 people working Christmas and it's done on a voluntary basis however since they screwed my leave up I'm now automatically selected to work. It's quite annoying however I have 10 days off in Jan and I do get double time for working xmas day.

Had half a day today at my first job and I also work in a bar so working tonight, Christmas Day and Boxing day. No one is forcing me though, just looking to make some decent mulla and don't want to be stuck in the house for the next three days (mind you there's no way I'm missing out on a Christmas dinner :p).
