Threatening texts -what the law?

Hi all.
Well over the last 6 days i have been getting threating texts from a guy.
He thinks me and my GF said things about him which we have not
And no matter what other people tell him he wont back off.

I get at least 5 threatening texts a day saying that he is going to have me
And make trouble for my GF which has upset her no end.
I have texted back saying Me and my GF did not say a thing and he can ask
Whoever he wants but he still won’t stop.

I and my GF are sick of it now.
So does anyone know if there is something i can do?
If i go to the police can they do anything?
Any words of wisdom would be great.

Yes you can attend the police station. have you saved all of the texts this person has sent? The police will investigate as it could be viewed as threatening behavior .
 
I'd just say to him 'stop or we will inform the police'. I'm sure they could do something for you both....either that or just go to the police anyway. The guy sounds like a tool!

and make him more angry then he flips.

Can I get a KEEP AWAY order on him?

Its xmas for gods sake and i just got another telling me he is going to HAVE ME
and stuff like that.

I would still report it to the police and make them aware, its logged. You can can seek legal advice regarding a "restraining order" You can also inform your mobile telephone company that you are receiving threatening texts and you have informed the police. They may even issue you new number and might be able to block the callers messages/ number.

But you need to report it to the police and it is officially logged;).

And don't let bullies spoil you and your GF xmas.

Warn him that you will go to the Police if it continues then if it does I'd report him ASAP. He's suffering from keyboard warrior syndrome and I've a feeling he'll back off though unless he's a complete psycho.:mad:

Me and my Gf will be going to the police on thursday and see what happens.

Because I live about 20 miles from him ( thats were my GF lives by him)
He may do something nasty to my GF or her children.

I will get our phone numbers change asap.
 
TBH i wouldn't even warn him of my intentions of reporting the threatening texts to the police. That would be baiting him, the texts will continue. J report it straight away to both the police and your mobile telephone company.

delete and ignore, he sounds like hes all mouth - no action, if he really wanted to do something like that he would have by now? people like that are scum, they do it for the reaction and dont intend to follow it up.

and i bet its all over nothing...
 
It is like a bully. Don't reply as as a reaction is what he wants.

Go to the Police if you are scared he may carry out his threats.
 
there's nothing you can do. you can go whinge to the police but they won't do a lot. just keep a record and when you or your gf get beaten up then they'll give him a slap on the wrist, tell him not to do it again and let him go.

of course if you get in first and beat him up they will nail you to the cross. it's the way of the world.

Just ignore the guy, don't reply. Report the incident to the police, so as to have it all down on record, but don't expect them to do much..
to be honest, once you stop replying and he's just texting thin air, he'll probably stop :)

fine, ok. :) ignore me, ignore the texts, everything will go away and you will go sleep tonight to wake up to a phone full of apologetic messages and find the guy found solace in the church and he's now reformed.

after all, it's christmas. miracles happen and nothing bad ever happens at christmas. :)

I will go to the police on thursday as wensday is BOXING DAY
And I dont want to tempt fait,if you know what i mean

What a loser, sorry to hear that. I think the telephone company can get a bar put on the number.
