Philips +50% brighter headlight bulbs - useful or just marketing?

No.

Those are Bright Halogens with a Xenon effect;)

so what do they look like? are they blue? and what sort of coverage of the road do they give compared to normal bulbs?

i've decided that i want some of these coolnesses =p

They are ok, I have them in my car partly due to the fact Philips seem to be the only people who make decent bulbs in the correct fitment for my normal beam.

Would probably try the other model they do in my size next time though.

I've had some of the Phillips +80% ones since they first came out and was impressed with the increase in brightness and the change in colour from a dodgy yellow to white. They are legal in all European countries.

Just to clarify what has been said these +X% bulbs are regular filament bulbs but engineered to higher tolerances (less glass so higher pressure gas, hotter burning filament). Not to be confused with HID Xenon OEM or aftermarket kits.

Get Osram Night Breakers, you will notice that the headlights will produce whiter light and more of it.
Fancy a set of these myself, anyone tried the main beam bulbs?

powerbulbs are giving away free phillips sidelights with most purchases last time I checked aswell.

I have Philips vision plus in mine and osram +50% in her car.

The Philips are better out of the two, can't comment on the next ones
up. (night breaker and extreme)

I have used the Philips 80% bulbs, superb even in my old style headlight holders. Will be also getting hold of the Osram 90% bulbs soon when I finally get round to sorting my main beam out.

Nimzicki, Get Osram Night Breakers, much better than Halfords ones and are cheaper if you check ebay for example.
