Anyone know anything about watches?

I just asked as one of my presents was a dkny dress type watch for the around £100. I like the really like look/design but would rather a watch by an actual watch maker.

I'm told i can take it back if like.

those watches are usually made by watchmakers who slap a designer label on them, timex wtc

I've had a Citizen Eco-drive for a few years now. Looks tidy and is very light. Only downside is, the titanium strap picks up scratches over time.

/edit: Forgot to say, it was £130.

I quite like the Everlast watches. I got this when I was in HK:

Quite a nice watch and have had a few comments about how nice of a watch it is. Got an alarm, interval timer and chronograph

Calvin Klien do some reall nice watches for around the £100 mark, simple and classy looking, I think.....I not keen on these big chunky flashy things with 17 dials.

People would also question which market stall in Spain you bought it off though...

Whats your point though? could say that about any watch with a recognisable name.

I bought a pretty convincing TAG from turkey a few years back, about £5. they have the full range, everything from swatch to rolex. :D

Bother were about £40-50 from USA, some of my other G's cost alittle more though

I got a watch for xmas a Quartz model. Its a special watch, that you get in the Coldstream Guards. So far its got a grey strap, but if i manage to get into the guards they change it to a red and blue strap;)

Calvin Klien watches, not for navy seals, good for adding a classy touch to a classy evening out.

Is Calvin Klein actually considered a watchmaker now? The OP would be in exactly the same position he is in now if he swapped his DKNY for a Calvin Klein.

Who cares, you buy a watch because of its looks. They all tell the time to very good accuracy so therefore modern watches are an acsessory*, much like a bracelet or an earing, and should be worn according to the occasion.

I suggested ssomthing from the CK range, because they are smart and understated, and look good in any situation, from the office, to the pub, to the formal dinner.

*unless your a mountaineer or a deep sea diver.

The OP. He wouldn't have started this thread otherwise. Apparantly seeing the word watch in a thread title is enough reason to post about any watch regardless of whether it has anything to do with the thread.

And just because you buy a watch based solely on it's aesthetic values doesn't mean we all do.
