Hey all

I have a very awkward room. It is an attic conversion, and has 2 walls slanted due to the roof, and one wall which is straight, has the stairs below it. I have the door to my room the floor below me, with my stairs actually in my room with a bannister behind my desk.

Now as I dont really have much space for a 42-46" TV anywhere but on a wall, and as my room is facing the wall with the stairs this seems really the only logical position.

The wall behind me is straight as well but I wouldnt be able to see the TV from my desk, and my bed is adjacent to that wall, making desk / bed watching impossible.

Mounting it above the stairs would be great as I could have it above and behind my PC monitors and use it as another display for gaming / watching stuff from my desk, as well as from my bed.

The only problem is going to be getting the wall mount secured in place, and then lifting the TV up to connect it to the mount.

My current TV (old style 32" widescreen) is taking up pretty much ALL of desk2, which I want to put my gf´s PC and monitor on. So any ideas?

Anyone experienced at awkward mounting spots? Or should I just reorganise my room?

not really because then the TV will have to be placed much higher, and will be about 1ft from my face which is a poor viewing distance, and an awkward angle to look at it and crane my neck.

If its above the stairs I have probably a 4-5ft gap from my desk which is just right

i guess its a toss up between stress and missions to get it installed but when its in place its perfect, OR have an easyish time getting it installed then not happy 100% with the outcome

I don't see the problem either. The best place appears to be over the stairs so get a couple of ladders, get a couple of mates per ladder and install it there. It shouldn't be too hard so long as you take your time, get all the right equipment ready beforehand and make sure that everyone who's helping you knows exactly what they're supposed to be doing.

thats the problem, dont have access to ladders suitable of standing on stairs.

i suppose i could do the rest with my powerdrill + some bits

next question is do i trust my housemates  :p

Mattress on stairs. Jump off desk, shove nails in wall. Jump off again with hammer, repeatedly. 2 people jump together with TV.

Seriously though, it might be worth looking in a local newspaper for an odd job man/decorater etc and giving them a ring. I'm sure they'd do it for you, they'd have the ladders etc required, and it would be worth the £40 by the sound of it.
