Having serious problems with stability in vista 64bit when having all 4 RAM modules on the mother board. Each DIMM is fine though as ive tested the system with orthos with every combination of my 4 sticks in (3 at a time obs) and it runs fine under that but as soon as I place the 4th in my installs become corrupt and same with downloads plus get weird errors on all programs where they stop working

Setup is as follows:

Abit IP35 - revision 14 bios (latest)
E2180 CPU @ stock
4x1gb GEIL ULL DDR2

Weird thing is when I reset my bios the ram timing goes to 816 as my CPU defaults to 204 fsb :S. Have to run both in manual to get it to work properly.

Ive read about increasing the RAM voltage to 2.1v (says to do this on the side of the DIMMS) but the abit config whines about it when I do that saying its got too much. PC doesnt boot either if I increase the northbridge voltage.

Ideas?

What timings are you running at, when I upgraded to 4gb of Geil RAM I had to reset the BIOS and adjust the timmings to run at 5-5-5-15, if I kept them at 4-4-4-12 I
would get what you described above.

I am running the Abit IP35 PRo.

Got it set to SPD so would that be running at 4-4-4-12?

Will try at 5-5-5-15 and set the rest to auto and see how I get on

Do i need to force anymore volts through anything?

That right, adjust them to run at 5-5-5-15, leave rest to auto.
Leave the volts as they are for the time being.

Hopefuly that should do the trick :)

on the IP35 Pro increasing the MCH (memory controller hub) voltage from 1.25 to about 1.4 tends to fix most 4GB stability issues...don't know if the non-pro bios has the same option

When I fiddled with our pre-overclocked systems the RAM timings had no influence...the same issues occured at loose, stock and tightened timings

alright mate giving it a go now, put the timings to 5-5-5-15 and left the voltages as they are

it does but the system doesnt boot if I touch it lol

abits typically have a 2% overclock at defaults

you can disable the warnings or adjust the levels.

Just tried what ScottiB recommended, it works , running at 4-4-4-12 now, started without any problems.

Learn something new everyday :).

James J do what ScottieB recommended. :)

I cant! The minute I touch the MCH voltage the system doesnt boot anymore and I have no idea why

ooo er it just posted and loaded into vista at 1.41v on the MCH. Will have a tinker to make sure its stable, thanks for the tips guys

Just noticed something odd, switched ram chips around and now it says im running in dual channel mode oO. Didnt say that before lol

having problems with PCIe atm as my gf8800GT needs 1.0a to run properly but I get corruption on it. Downgrading to 1.0 blanks my screen out continously

Still got the same problem using all 4 sticks of ram. Cant post at 5-5-5-15 either as the screen doesnt even turn on :s

got the MCH at 1.41v and ram at 2.1v as it recommends on the side of the chips

right even knocked the mhz of the ram down to 666 for all 4 dimms and its still the same. This board just doesnt want to play nice at all -.-.
