Hey guys

Me and a mate have decided to spend New Years eve in Newcastle, we've wanted to go there for ages because of all the positive things we've heard about the nightlife from friends who went to uni there or have lived there.

So we decided to go ahead and what better night to go than New Years when it will be quite busy

Trouble is, neither of us have been up there before, so we have no idea where the places to go on a night out are. And I know a few people are from the area, and certainly some of you will have gone there before on a night out, so asking your advice

We're staying right in the centre near Legends nightclub, so hopefully the places to go arent to far from there for when we have to crawl back

We're not fussy when it comes to places to drink. As long as its quite busy and not the sort of place that attracts the wrong kind of people

If it plays cheese music then all the better, nothing beats a bit of cheese music when you're drunk

Cheers for your help guys

ill probably be in mood tisnt the best but its a place where you gonna get a more than average night may move to blu bambu later on

I'll be hitting Digital! Timo Maas! ;)

Edit: Dont go there, just realised it's not your scene. Go to Bamboo maybe or Attic.

Oh dear god do not go to Mood. I'd rather stay at home and put staples into my forehead.

Cant stand sea! I know basically everyone that works there, so that can be fun talking and catching up but its a club ive never agreed with.

Yep me too, If you like Dance go to digital as Thermaltake says, if you like R&B Liquid or Attic are always good nights.

shame wax on went to leeds for NYE this year :(

as for the OP , you can hardly go wrong as long as you avoid liquid , i personally cant stand the place and find the bouncers in there to be total nobbers

Yeh, Timo isnt the best but im with bunch of good lads so no doubt i'll have a messy NY. I was there last year aswell, did you go to Foundation after? That was well good! Newcastle generally is rubbish for the house scene anyway! Shindig n Wax:On is only ever open til 3am, what a joke! Just getting started at that time! :D Sesh any1?

This would be my quick outline of clubs in newcastle, varying prices on NYE, best ring and check

Mood : Avoid - Shouldn't even be classed as a "club"
Tiger Tiger : Average - Good variation of music (3 /4 Rooms) but expensive to get in
Blu Bamboo : Average - Good variation of music, can get full of undesirables
Appartment / Attic / Box : Poor - Ok music, but prices let them down
Digital : Good - Need to like the music, but spot on appart from that
Carling Academy : Good - Again need to like the music, but quite cheap drink (This is where im spending NYE, BulletProof!)
Sea : Average - Mostly Chart and R n B, quite a few footballers get in there.
Chase : Poor - More a bar, and expensive
Baja : Poor (In My Eyes) - Good for cheese and a laugh, mostly full of either really young people, or really old.
Liquid / Envy : Poor - Full of the undesireables, and dj's cant mix.

Depends how much you want to spend, and what you's are wearing etc. We went to Shindig @ Foundation last year, awsome, mate knew one of the doormen, got in for nowt, eric prydz rocked!

Hope that helped a bit

Foundation last year was fantastic, last year in there and it was a shame. Got tickets for Digital but dont expect it to me anywhere near last year.

if you like cheese make sure to stop off at BOOM! 90s bar. most hilarious bar in newcastle, although new years i imagine it will be full of rather loutish locals.
for a new years iv heard digital is good although i personally think its the worst club in newcastle...
if you dont have a geordie accent and you have hair on your head id avoid the gate (mood in there) and id avoid bigg market at all costs (blu bambu).

Just got back, cheers for the advice guys

Started off in Liquid just because it was literally outside our hotel, then moved to The Gate, saw in the New year in Players (I think thats what its called?) as we met some people and tagged along with them

Finally ended up in Mood, wanted to go to Digital but we were so drunk and tired by 3 that we just went back

Overall a fantastic night and will definitley be going back to Newcastle again, top people, top nightlife and very very cheap :p

A bunch of us thought it'd be a good idea to do something random and either go to camp david (gay bar) for some progressive belgian techno, or legends (rock bar). We ended up in the latter and i've never been so worried about getting bottled in my life due to looking completely out of place :p :D

Sounds like you had a good night then... weird route though lol.

and yeah, you should have gone to Digital. Timo Maas was playing until 5am :)
