Racing a new scooby unmarked police

Didnt think police were allowed to convict if they encouraged you to go over the limit? And surely if they were tailgating and encouraging you to go faster then it could be argued?

Im probably wrong, I usually am :p

They got me in similar circumstances,i was in a Jag XKR and they were in a unmarked BMW on the A1 just north of Grantham.3am hadn't seen a car for miles and was on my way to Glasgow.Anyway they were right up my **** so i decide to boot it upto about 110mph.They catch up and sit there again,so i do the same thing.

This time when they catch up they turn on the blues and i get pulled at a average of 99.7 mph iirc.Goto court,5 points £100 fine :)

so sad that they have to resort to provoking a race to catch people.

they did it to me years ago when i had the mr2 turbo. i had a moron in a vectra right up my backside on a dual carriageway and two roundabouts. i thought i was being a saint by not reacting initially. id moved over to let it pass initially but they just moved lane and sat behind me.

coming off the last roundabout in the off side lane, i moved over again, they didnt pass so i hammered it, i pulled well over 100m on a 2.5 v6 vectra. i slowed down on the other side of the hill to see what engine the numpty had, it passed me and the daft copper was pointing his finger at me etc.

maybe the mr2 pulled away so fast they couldnt work out a speed and when they saw me again i was doing the speed limit.

gheys, the lot of them

Will do, the car is filthy at the moment but as soon as I get a chance to clean it I'll post a thread.

Here is a quick preview though (photo taken by the people selling the car, not me).

They have 400bhp? I had no idea, a chap down the road has one (think he still does anyway), I have a new found respect for his car now!

That was my first thought too..

I've overtaken an unmarked police car once doing a fair bit more than the speed limit on the M1.

Only realised because my passenger pointed out "that cars got two coppers in it", i just let off the gas & gradually slowed down to the limit without breaking as i didn't want the brake lights to come on.

I pulled in front of them & they caught me up & overtook me, driver just looked straight at me as he passed & carried on at about 75-80.

:D

I normally just pull over if theres anything that could be a cop car up my rear end. You learn to know which types of cars they normally use. i doubt you will see them in a old nova etc

:P

Dont unmarked police cars always have two wing mirrors? one for the passenger...tis what I heard anyway.

Yeah, mine is the S-Type R though, the standard S-Type is a little tame, however the addition of a 4.2 litre supercharged V8 soon changes that :D.

Sounds like fun, I just had a look at these as you posted yours, a pity theyre all automatics though :( Certainly a lot of car for the money. What are servicing costs and such like?

Probably let you off because you weren’t going that fast and he was in a good mood.

I was been badly tailgated by a marked Astra in a 40 limit the other week

One of the reasons a rear mounted camera would be awesome!

"We've got you on video speeding"
"Yeah, well I've also got you on video right up my backside"

:p

Servicing costs aren't too bad when you consider what kind of car it is, compared to something like an M5 it's quite cheap, it also has a timing chain not a belt so that saves quite a bit of cash. Consumables are obviously very expensive, brake disks especially as they are huge and available only from Jaguar.

The S-Type seems to have got a bit of a bad reputation as the early ones were crap. Mine is a facelift model and apart from the looks it’s a completely different car than the early ones, overall it seems very well put together, easily better than its German rivals and almost up there with some of the Lexus GSs I’ve driven. I always used to wonder why Jaguar placed so high on customer satisfaction surveys, but now I can see why.

ive been the passenger in the car when marked police cars done a steady 80-95 on the motorway, they didnt seem to care that they werent loosing distance on us

Slamming on the anchors when theyre right up your arse would be a decent solution if you didnt really care about your car. Would take some amount of explaining as to why they were sitting about an inch off the guys bumper.
