What is essential in life?

Chocolate, Ribena, Larger, coffee, occasinal smoke, games, fast internets, uber graphics card, big TV, phone, electro or hiphip music and dancing to it. some kind of relaxing place to live, easy but interesting well paying job but I would swap this for a big WAD of cash, (I don't see the attraction to workig 8 hours a day even if it is interesting, nothing is that good to want to do for 8 hours a day 5 days a week), car, cat, ,girls, friends and family of course and rollercoasters.

These are not essential but I consider them important. Obviously essental things are any food, water, shelter, boobs.

:D /Puke. Seriously though.

I think everyone needs to have some kind of purpose, the monotony of day to day life would get me depressed very quickly If I didn't have some kind of goal.

friends? family?

Would be pretty useless if I lived on the street starving because I didn't have enough money to survive.

Money is essential, family and friends are extremely desirable but not essential.

Even from a non emotianal logical point of view you can ask your friends and family for help in times of need. My mum wouldn't let me sleep on the street.

After 33 years of constant working in factories I've been on the dole since mid september and whats essential to me is getting up in the morning and earning a days wages.

Serious question - why havnt you gone and just got a shop job for the time being or something?

Let me be the first to introduce Maslow's hierarchy of needs! The bottom of the pyramid is what he thinks we require first, then in decreasing importance up the pyramid.

Because for 3 months I've devoted my time to college & going to a Juvenile Prison where I've been a volunteer teaching assistant in the classrooms.
They've give me the wink to apply for future jobs but in the mean time I'm going to work for a mate in early January earning quite a lot of money for doing next to nothing.

I also like how you basically **** a shop job off.

Obviously i am generalising, but i dont think many people would regard being a shop assistant as a serious long term prospect, fantastic for the situation you found yourself in though in the short term as staff turnover is often high and thus its easy to get a quick position.

But anyway seems like you are sorted, i forgot you had been doing that prison work :)

Where did he **** it off? Retail is an area where they are quite often looking for staff, that's what I thought he meant by his post.
