Okay, I have a 2k budget. I am aiming for the muts nuts..or atleast what ever 2k can buy me.
I do not need monitor, dvd, mouse, keyboard, or massive storage. Everything else is game.
PC is for gaming, C0D4, BF2, WoW.

Thinking Quad Core, Water cooled, 4GB memory, SLI? maybe..

Anyone able to offer me an opening gambit?

Thanks in advance.

A 2K budget is massive overkill for your needs. Why spend an extra £1000 for a possible 5% improvement is performance.

As future proof as it can be with great performance plus it will be as quiet as a gnats fart.

if you have 2k to spend then ddr3 with a new gts, 8800ultra or crossfired 3870's would be a better option than an 8800gt, if going ddr3 then sli is out of the question for now, ddr2 is not future proof at all its old tech and a waste of money in a 2k spec

Hmm, PLEASE wait 8weeks or so, dont buy 2 Ultras etc now as new ones due soon and new Mobos etc etc.

2K is a lot to spend to be outdated in only 8weeks.

get a thermalight 120 extreme, and lap both it and your processor.

you can not use 2 * 2GPU ATI cards in crossfire this is the other one CrossFireX or whatever they call it... for that you will need one of the new AMD motherboards

crossfire x is supposed to be supported on any existing crossfire motherboard that supports PCI-E 2.0 and 2 full x16 lanes

Over £1800 on a system with uber gpu's of death and yet a monitor of that size with only a vga input?

haha yeah, well im on a tight budget and its the only 24" i can afford, obviously this guy can change that monitor!

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-026-OK < £40 more, cracking monitor.

If you're waiting till Feb for the graphics anyways why not get a lower spec one now then do a full GPU upgrade when the green cards are out and get a big boost rather than just chucking cards in there?

cause these are the new ati cards, and ive never really liked nvidias support and have had to many problems with their drivers in the past.

With the recent information on how crossfire x works and the scailabilty of the cards that marscay has show it seems a pretty nice way to go-

i was aiming to get it early feb by ordering the spec with a pre-order on the x2 card.

thanks for that monitor btw, i'll get that instead
