I’m considering a flashgun for my 400D as I’d like to improve my indoor shots and the internal flash is less than fantastic.

Having a look around it seems the price difference between the two is £62 taking the Cash back promotion into account.

So I’m really just looking for some feedback, is this difference worth it and if so why? Or do you have any other comments/recommendations when it comes to flashguns?

Thanks in advance. :)

I've just got a 430EX. Its more than enough for indoor IMO, even does bloody well outside!!!

Although I'd be tempted to get the 580EX just so I have the best, but its bigger and weighs more so personal preference TBH.

I'd get the 430EX and save the dosh for a new lens :)

I have the 580EX and absolutely love it. Have not tried a 430EX yet, but get the 580EX if you're willing to spend the extra. The 580 can control the 430 as well if you decide to get another one down the line and it works wonders with my indoor shots. I'm now able to shoot with practically any setting I want with the flash compensating for the light required.

i'm going to go for the 580Ex as it has weather proofing, a better range, better GN number and i can get it for £229 before cashback.

£160 is about the best new price in the UK, you can get one from HK for £20 - £30 less or go used for about the same price.

I take it many of you are talking about Kerso. None of the dons have ever had a problem with his name being mentioned in the past and people have posted about him many a time, including in a thread by Spie a while ago.

Google will help you from there.

Just don't order it from a place that has the word "day" in the name and are based in Guernsey. I've never had such poor service from an internet retail company in my 8 years of shopping online.
