Tesco Lovefilm

It's fine for me but I've not really had many recent titles, most recent game I've had from them was Pro Street, they didn't send COD4 or any of the pre-order rental things to me.

Lovefilm are crafty, if you want to cancel your order you need to phone up a few days before you get billed, if you phone too early they tell you to wait. When you come to cancelling and you go to your account theres a link which i accidentally pressed and it instantly cancelled my cancellation request.

Other than that they do send your films/games next day

Yes

No - all the films/games worth having are out all the time so you just end up with tat you don't really want. Their service is pathetically slow. I had the service that allowed 3 at a time and I remember I got 3 in 3 weeks, no joke!! So I cancelled and went back to Blockbusters.

I had that problem with them last time I cancelled. They then claimed my disc didnt get back to them until the day after my payment. So they took another month of me I couldn't get back.

This time I've saved up all the envelopes they send out. So if I cancel and they give me the same grief they get about a hundred pre paid empty envelopes sent back to them at their cost.

The only way to get games out of them is to create a seperate list and leave one game in it.

Yes, I have a 3 month free trial up until March 15th :)

Got COD4,Smackdown VS Raw 2008 delivered 2 days after putting on my list, which isn't bad at all, also got prey, but only for Gamerscore :p

I've used love film for quite a while and I think it's good, Not used it for games yet, Just movies.

I wasn't aware that Love film was part of Tesco though??

I was with Lovefilm for the 3 month trial. I ran out of stuff I wanted to watch after about 2 months so I cancelled it close to the trial ending date. There's the usual convincing you to stay via x type package when you call to cancel but that's how it always is with customer support/sales. I only did movies with them.. I ticked the wrong box when I signed up and they wouldn't let me change the movie only trial to games too unless I paid. Really quick turnaround. I'd be shoving those return envelopes in the post practically every morning.

Thanks for this thread.

I'm currently with amazon rentals. They don't do games, which is why I was thinking of moving to lovefilm.

I've been with them for years, and for movies and TV series rentals, they're pretty good...... not perfect, but no real problems. If I time sending a film back, for the release day of a new film, I usually get the new films sent out on the day of release. One niggle was series DVD boxsets, that if say disk 2 was out, they'd send disk 3, then 4, then go back to 2. They fixed that recently though, so TV series only get sent in order.

I also get 10% off all DVD and bluray purchases (and possibly HD-DVD, not sure, as I've never bought one)

Guess I'll stick with them for now then.

Thanks again for the thread though, I'll stay away. Sounds like their games hiring is pretty poor anyway. If it's so hit and miss to get new games, and games you really want, could be just as well to buy them, and sell on after completion.... or wait for a good MM fleabay deal.

V1N.

I recently cancelled my lovefilm subscription after 9 months because the turnaround had become really slow. It started with the RM strikes and never really picked up before the Christmas rush, but I do mostly blame the postal service and not lovefilm.

They only send out tv series in the correct order, and in my experience, if I've had the first disc of a series, I get at least one subsequent disc in my set of 3 each time. The lists that they introduced are great, although I didn't try it with games. I had mine set up with one disc on films and two on tv, and I always got exactly that. I never recieved any games or blu-ray when they were all in one list, but I did make a separate blu-ray list with one disc allocated to it, and it worked perfectly. I've never had many brand new titles on my list, but I don't remember a delay getting the ones I did want.

If you have never used them before, I'd recommend looking for a free trial and going from there. There are plenty of codes for extended trials up to 3 months if you look hard enough ;). Just make sure you set up your lists and you shouldn't have a problem.

i'm with tesco dvd rental...never had a problem with them, but then i'm on their bog standard movie service.

i signed up when they were doing the "free ipod shuffle after 3 months" offer and it arrived a week before christmas. just in time for me to sell it on ebay :D

:D What a great idea.

They started off really well for me, but it now takes roughly 1-2 weeks to get stuff. I got discs posted on the 7th but still haven't received them yet. :/

they are ok

good thing is they are FAST - i get minimum 2 or 4 every 7-8 days.

bad thing is you will sometimes be waiting a while for the new titles (esp with games as they get held onto longer)

still better than paying £3.50 - £4 per title/game from the video shop though.
