Ok overclocking the brothers new PC tonight and need some input as the the "best" BIOS to use... had a rumage about and looks like 0903 is the one to use but am welcome to suggestions :)

Just a heads up i see this on Extreme You want the 1303 bios, do not, I repeat, do NOT use the 1305 bios dont know why you cant use 1305 tho .
But there is a lot of info on Extreme about that board.

hope it helps

Shads the above Bios's you mention they are relating to the Asus Striker Extreme? and not the Asus Maximus? Pneumonic is referring to.

His Q6600 has a really low VID only: 1.2000 according to coretemp so wait and see what it does :)

Ok soz i didn't know maximus had a Bios 1303/ 1305 from info on thread Maximus Bios appears to be listed as 09XX

I am aware Striker Extreme (680i) has Bios 1303/ 1305

Or am i missing something:confused:

Yes sorry think i was getting muddled up as i was looking at the other board for someone els  sorry :)

thanks weescott.. 0903 seems good got to 3.6 at just over 1.4 vcore :) is a lovely chip... might have to put some bigger fans on his heatsink see what it can really do :)

i've found 0901/0903/0907 all performing pretty equal on my hardware.

initially had some problems with 0907 but it just took a little tweaking and it's probably the pick for me right now.

doubt you will go wrong with any - take a lucky dip :)

901 allowed slightly a higher stable FSB (about 5mhz ish). From 903 I started to have issues. But I was really pushing the board (max voltages) with about 4 or 5 different chips for a couple of weeks. So maybe the board just had enough of me. Formula Extreme / X48 / Other, in a few weeks time. ;)

you killed your maximus?

shoddy workmanship if it can't handle over 5ghz 24/7 eh :p

I updated to 0903 today and now AI Suite will not work :(
First it crashed, so i unistalled it, intalled it again, and now i get an "Eaccess Violation" error.

Other than that it seems stable so far but hey, i'm not overclocking much at the moment ( bit wet behind the ears).
