Swiftech H20 220 Compact mini review

Thanks for the great review. Would love to see temps after an hour or two with Prime. But your review gives us a rough idea of what to expect from this kit.

Thanks

How much benefit would be gained from having the radiator and fans outside the case? Could it explain the 8-10C difference between this and my PA120.3 system?

That very true i had to recheck the box (pic) and gurusan i believe has pin pointed the change but swfitech still market the product as compact but under extreme instead of straight forward compact previous edition.

So it would appear there are two types of compact on the market? The rad size being the difference

The 120.1 version is the Compact 120, the 120.2 version is the Compact 220 Extreme.

It's a great product from Swiftech, good idea to join four products into two.

What's noise like from the Apogee Drive like? I would imagine you would get some sort of vibration and resonance through CPU/Motherboard?

I've got one of these in my HTPC and it's inaudible. :D

I do think that it needs the bigger rad to be efficient though as the heat generated by the pump is right on top of the CPU block. When I had mine running to check the loop for leaks it felt warm to the touch.

Normally you'd have the rad inbetween the pump and the block so this wouldn't be an issue.

With the bigger rad though I think this system should work even better than the 120 as flow through the block must be better with pump right on top of it as apposed to a seperate pump and block system.

I'd be interested to know how the apogee drive performs in a 'back to back' test in a custom set up?

Well done on the review by the way.

Heh sorry ladies an gents

Came back upstairs to my pc last night to find that windows updates had restarted my pc

And i started playing Cod 4 instead lol.

Anyway just started prime 95 again and il keep a eye on it this time.

All depends what the ambient temps are surely?

Well, yes, but lets assume he's running it in a cool room. I'm in a cool room too, and he's running 10-15C below my temperatures for a similar overclock with similar voltages in the BIOS etc. and I've got a PA120.3/FuZion with Nozzles/Laing D5/MicroRes system that cost at least double what the 220 Compact Extreme does. Something isn't right somewhere.

Actually - I've just downloaded the log file and he is hitting the high 50s in cycles which makes me wonder if he was running small FFTs or Blend?

I admit im in a cool room, theres no heating in here but its not stupidly cold.

Just tried to find a thermometer in the freezer downstairs but couldnt find one lol.

**edit*

Was running blend. Should i have been running something else ?

And I'm just going to set up an MCR-220 system on a radbox here to see what effect being outside the case has on temperatures. I think it must be quite significant, especially if the room is cool.

My home office runs at a controlled 18C, which is cool enough to my wife somewhere to hang her coat, and I can't see your room being massively different.

Small FFTs just works the CPU, but I'm not sure it makes a massive difference.
