Is Pass plus really worth it? Been doing some online quotes lately an either some companys dont mention it or it doesnt affect the price at all.

So is it worth it?

An what companys actually use it?

So far ave tryed Chuchill, Liverpool Vic, Kwik-Fit, Tesco and quinn direct

quinn say that it will reduce but refuse to give you any figure

i'll be doing it 'cause i get to do the welsh scheme where it costs me 20 quid

but to do it normally costs loads... so I don't know how worthwhile it will be in terms of money saving

Some insurance companies offer 30% off which is the equilivant to your first years NCB :)

I got close to 50% off from Norwich Union after doing mine. It cost me £120 and saved me something silly like £500, so I figured it was worth it. :)

Which companies??

would be very help ful if ya could let us know :D

An if it is 30%

i can see the pass plus bein worthwhile:p

Never tryed NU will give them a go an see wha its like ;) THANKS LADS

It made a saving with Tesco for me - about £100 after the cost of taking PP as well.

Don't simply think of it as getting a few pounds off your car insurance after passing your test though.

It's an extension of driving tuition from a qualified instructor which will benefit newly passed drivers in the long term.

I know we have a couple of members here who are driving instructors and I'm sure they will agree.

My old man has been running a busy driving school since he retired as an advanced driver with the Fire Service years ago, and I know he feels that Pass Plus can enhance the driving ability and safety of newly qualified drivers/pupils.

i know it'll help with motorways an such, but with money bein abit tight am jus wonderin is it worth it :p , which it seems it does :D

Made naff all difference to my insurance, so I didn't bother so I could get on the road faster, although I wish I had done for the extra tuition, and am now considering doing an advanced driving course when I have the time. I rekon it's worth doing even if it doesn't make much, if any difference to your insurance :)

Aye, I took it as saving money, then really appreciated actually doing it. I gained a better understanding of driving etc. Was worth it even if I hadn't saved money really.

True. I enjoyed the lessons quite a lot actually. It was handy to have someone experienced with me the first time I went on the motorway, for example. Also doing difficult manoeuvres like reversing around a corner a hill in a country lane (not sure if it was on the list though :p).

saved me around 50% with norwich union, and i also found it helpful as a lesson, tought me a lot about reading further ahead up the road, safer motorway driving. worthwhile imo

not so sure about it, my sister did it yet she is still hopeless at driving. 5 years on the road yet she still manages to stall the car, have it in the wrong gear practically all the time, doesn't look on the approach to a junction and stops regardless of whether it is clear for miles, likes to drive so close to the gutter than it bounces on the drainage grates, and so on. Suffice to say, I dislike riding shotgun in her car.

I found pass plus to be helpful but if I'm honest not worth the outlay.

Went on the motorway and drove into Manchester center. Which was very useful as i learned all about joining a motorway, changing lanes etc. Then drove around Manchester center and he asked me to navigate my own way to Piccadilly station which was quite useful as it got me looking at road signs for myself. Then learned the mad way people drive around in Manchester, much more rushed than driving around Nelson.

The next 3 hour lesson we drove for miles through country lanes stopping at a burger king for a brew. This was pretty useful as he showed me how to take corners etc.

Worth doing but you could get your mum or dad to sit in the car with you instead for a lot cheaper.

If you're over 25 (possibly 21) don't bother, just use the money on motorway lessons. It made no differance to my insurance whatsoever, but i didn't expect it to because i'm 29.
