To get down into the cellar at the pub I work in, we have a set of steep stairs. There's a hatch that covers these when not in use. Now, normally the hatch is left up, as we're always up and down.

Its help open by a metal bar that hooks onto it, making it safe. I was training a member of my staff tonight, and demonstrated said hook to them. I somehow managed to not prop the hatch open.

An hour or so later (having not realised that it wasn't propped open, I was coming up from the cellar and used the small piece of banister rail attached to the underside of the hatch to pull myself up the stairs. You can probably guess what happened next...it came crashing down straight on top of my head, with the force of most of my bodyweight :/

Ouch. Luckily I have a very hard head.

you wanna be careful you dont have concussion or worse brain haemorage (sp) although heads tend to be pretty strong

I was thinking this - I felt a bit dizzy for a few seconds, but felt fine after that, not even a headache, was has quite suprised me.

I used to get picked on a fair bit in school, and one guy used to slam my head into lockers (nasty piece of work, him) and got even more annoyed when I shrugged and walked away. With hindsight, maybe there was something wrong with me :p

maybe you have a homer simpson skull and massive blows to the head dont damage you! please dont test the theory though ! :p where did you go to school did no one do anything about it??

I should box :p

I went to school down in Dorset - I was used to it, that was the only physical stuff, the rest was just typical schoolkid stuff. The way I see it, I'm now doing a damn sight better than them, so sod 'em. :)
