Well have been doing some overclocking lately and it seems that I am not getting consistent volts along the 12v rail of my psu causing the bios to reset which is annoying to say the least. The long and short of which is that i am going to be getting rid of my current PSU a cheap OCZ 600w jobbies and getting a better one. The psu that I have at the moment is LOUD as I am sure anyone who has this psu will testify, so what is really appealing is a silent one I know that the corsairs are quiet but after doing some more delving i read many reviews and the Akasa AK-P010FG-BK 1000W PowerMax PSU
has gotten some rave reviews also despite being non-modular. I have taken the lower fan out of my Antec P182 case and am sure that with a little wangling I could get any PSU into the case that I wished what do you guys recon would be a silent or near silent model with solid 12v rails? System spec as follows:
Q6600 G0 stepping, Ultra 120 Extreme Cooler
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3 Board
8800 GTX card with HR-03 Plus cooler
2 gig OCZ ddr2 8500 memory
Antec P182 Case
320 gig disk
1 dvd-rw
7 fans in total (4 through a controller)
Several USB devices such as kb and mouse etc drawing power?
I would like to upgrade and not have to worry about needing to upgrade in the future I generally upgrade the PSU every few years so I want one that is going to last a good few upgrades. cost not really an issue, Also I need a bit of power left over so that if I decide to water cool in the future there is plenty of headroom left in the PSU to cover it.
What do you guy’s recon would be my best bet?
