Now, bare with me as I haven't had time to try it out with it being the old man's birthday, so..

# Are the supported games (e.g. Drake's Fortune) rumble-region-locked, by that I mean are only US and HK games embedded with the rumble data or are all games the same?

# How, and more importantly where do I download the data to enable rumble, on say R:FoM / Drake's Fortune: will the console detect the DS3?

Sorry about starting this new thread.. I didn't want to hi-jack some of the other DS3 threads because I didn't think I'd get a reply from them.

Cheers

The games have individual updates to get the rumble enabled - usually you go to the multiplayer portion of the game, then it will tell you it needs to update. Your PS3 will have the DS3 information simply by you using the controller. Pressing the PS button will show controller options having a vibration option which is on by default.

I would assume there's largely no region lock issues for rumble, if one region has rumble, all other regions will have it.

Come to think of it, I have a question myself and this topic seems to be the perfect place to put it; are there any plans for CoD4 to get a rumble patch anytime soon, does anyone know?

Heh, surprising as the feature is in the Xbox360 version I just figured they'd leave it there on the PS3.
Weird how Motorstorm has it and CoD4 doesn't.

Yeah so many of the older games have been patched to work with rumble (Folklore, R:FOM, Motorstorm etc.) but CoD4 even though its a fairly recent game has no signs of rumble, which is a real shame for the rumble fans. :(

I remember Infinity Ward saying they didn't have the libraries needed for the rumble capabilities even when the game was released. I hope they do now, it's too big a game to pass on!

I'd be surprised if they didn't, it's been a massive game online for all consoles.
Do you have it on PS3 instead of Xbox360 then KNiVES?

I don't have Call of Duty 4 at all, but was interested in a game that would make good use of my shiny new pad and is also a very decent game in itself. Call of Duty 4 would fit the bill perfectly, being as it's a spot-on port - just has no rumble !

Nah, I couldn't play it with that bloody pad, I'd get angry and break it... and that wouldn't be hard to do. I've handled more solid rice-paper. Then I'd have to buy a Dual Shock for £40, so that would be £80 for the 2! Then after seeing the quality I'd have to replace my other controller for £40! That would be £120! You could get a second hand Xbox360 for that! ;).

Have to agree, the build quality on the sixaxis is quite shocking, whilst it does the job I always felt it was only a matter of time before I broke mine.

Slightly off-topic, but has there been any sort of confirmation that the DS3 controllers will become standard in the UK?

I'd imagine Sony will eventually put the DS3 controllers in as standard, just like they did back in the PS1 days. It took about 6 months after the initial release to pack them in with the consoles as standard.
