Looking for the film requested in my film ID thread got me thinking about a lot of the more obscure films I've seen over the years that others might like.
So here's a few of the ones that spring to mind:

The Quiet Earth - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089869/ (Ta for the ID Gezzard)
Little Otik - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0228687/ (The most bizarre film I've ever seen in my life)
Phase IV - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0070531/ (Excellent film, would love to find it on non-bootleg DVD)
Cronos - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104029/
Open Your Eyes - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0125659/ (Okay, not particularly obscure, but worth seeing over the mediocre Hollywood remake 'Vanilla Sky')
Bunman a.k.a Untold Story - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103743/ (Hugely Bipolar film, the dramatic scenes are outstanding, the 'comedy relief police' scenes are utter tripe, but if you can get past that then it's worth watching Anthony Wong win himself a HK Film Award)

I've only included one Asian film, otherwise I'd be typing all day!
Anyone have any further recommendations?

The Believer is an average film made watchable but one of the most outstanding acting performances of the decade, from a young and (at the time) relatively unknown Ryan Gosling. Certainly better than any of those in the more popular American History X, which covers vaguely similar material.

Silent Running!...

No one seems to know this little gem from the 70's.. My Favorite film of ALL TIME..

No way, i've seen City of God loads of times but under a different name

Very good film :)

I really enjoyed a film i watched on sky a while back called new years day (how appropriate).

The basic plot/story is that 2 boys are on a school skiing trip with their classmates, theres an avalanche, they're the only survivors and decide to make a suicide pact and do everything they've ever wanted to do in a year then carry out the pact on new years day the following year.

No one else seems to like it, but i really enjoyed it.

garden state is only cult big, it wasnt a massive success generally, but is a great film

the rules of attraction

It's all about love

You guys have to check out State and Main (IMDB HERE) - Phillip Seymour Hoffman, David Mamet, Alec Baldwin, Julia Stiles... Very dark and very funny

Also Glengary Glen Ross is amazing (IMDB HERE). This has possibly one of the best casts ever with Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alan Arkin, Kevin Spacey and Ed Harris.

Both amazing, both very different!
