X Box 360 compared to PC Graphics

Playing on a SDTV with an Xbox 360 is like getting 8xAA for free. :P

Besides, you don't need an HDTV. You can hook the 360 up to any monitor with VGA capabilities.

To be fair with a decent PC you want a decent monitor. To say you need a decent TV for a console isn't fair to add into the comparison. On top of a £400+ base computer you're looking at another £250+ for a decent 24" LCD. Then there's all the other crap like keyboards and mice which some people like to spend another £50 odd on (why?!). It can also up upwards of £50 for an operating system. That's a good £350 without the PC.

If you can't afford a decent PC then of course the 360 is a great buy. But for those who have played games on a PC worthy of putting out a great gaming experience then you know it's just so much better with a mouse and keyboard for everything but 3rd person games and then with a pad converter these games are easily playable on the PC (Tomb Raider, Hitman, etc). Same with the force feedback wheel situation, you know there is a better choice with PC peripherals.

I used to love consoles, don't get me wrong. After playing a few games on a decent PC sealed the deal for me and consoles have been dead to me ever since. This is my opinion though ;).

Then there's all the other crap like keyboards and mice which some people like to spend another £50 odd on (why?!).

Because they have the option to where consoles owners don't really :p. You couldn't see a Razer/Microsoft pad coming out anytime soon :D.

Having a laser mouse/ Infra red is important if your quite a good shot as it fine tunes your aiming for they 1/2mile upwards rifle headshots. I was playing very well with my old Logitech office track and ball effort but then I got the Copperhead and it did sharpen up my game as my old mouse couldn't handle the precision as well as the Copperhead. Then I got fed up with the stupid laser skipping so I gave the Copperhead to my mum and bought the DeathAdder. The shape isn't as good as the Copperhead with me being a finger flicker but I've not had one skip yet :).

So that is why people will spend money on peripherals on PC's. Because they are decent.

Yes with an adapter (so my m8 claims as I dont own any console and never will, just try out his).

Then its back to needing a PC Monitor same as you need one for a PC so thats bad above to moan that you need buy a Monitor for a PC cause you need it regardless for both if no TV in the Mix. ;)

The argument about needing a monitor does have some strength as you might have a TV anyway, although to be fair most people will want to upgrade to a HDTV.

however you could say, well most people need a PC for word processing etc, buy a £300 PC,core2duo with 2GB of RAM. Overclock it to 3+ghz and bang in a £150 8800GT and voila.

You could nearly, some of the guys in the " Spec Me " threads surprise me (as you said tower only).

Again as I said it can not be done for 300 quid and then what costs £300 with 360 is top priced elite yeah thats a fair comparison

I will raise you, build a gaming PC that can beat the 360 for £150!!!... Afterall that is how much the CORE cost :D Not only will it NOT "own" the 360 but it will be bitch slapped into oblivion and NEVER be playable in three years mwhahahaha I win you loose

*Disclaimer I am both PC gamer/Console gamer but do love fanboi baiting

@ deadkomodo, HE NEVER said build a PC 3 years ago for £300, he meant TODAY.

And you need get your replys STRAIGHT not TWIST the posts you are trying to argue about. ;)

Want to save cash in short term, buy a Console, play at low res on a SD TV and eventually cost more in long run after buying dozens of games than a semi decent RIG that could be built here for little over £300, then obv you need buy a Monitor but you did state "Tower only" ;)

Yeah and he also said it will last 3 years. Read bud read :)

I then made the point you could not build a PC 3 years ago to last till now for £300 so what makes you think one build right now with be running PC games (which progressively seem to be less and less optimized for low end machines) in 2011 :D

I stole this from another thread, I think it could be improved on.

Your the one who cant read, he still did not say that he could build a PC to beat a 360 3 years ago for £300, it lasting 3 years is a different story. ;)

All I NEED to know is this thread was bound to cause this arguement (there have been multiple threads the same in the PC SECTION) and IMO all consoles are CRAP.

I will never ever own one, as an adult I have a good PC for all round use ( I may have had a console if I was a kid and stayed with parents), and I have played every console inc the Wii as friends and family have them.

The hardware is already well outdated in both mainstream Consoles compaired to any new PC be it low/mid/high end.

I pick up all my 360 games for about £20 or under... newsflash I don't see the need to get them on release day. Secondly your talk or *getting PC games for free* i.e. pirated games is also a null point as it can also be done on a 360 ;)

Nah he said it would last 3 years. The only way to prove otherwise is to look at the facts i.e. PC history... are you new to PC's?

Also that spec is a joke tbh... 256mb GPU ram :D Todays games are going to love that especially future ones ;) That spec is looking at medium low settings on new games TODAY :D

Disclaimer?. Hmmmm OK then.

Fanboi baiting you say?. If that was the case you would say something smart and leave instead of getting caught up in it .

I don't care if a console is cheaper. There is no comparison. To say you are a PC gamer but would happily play on consoles just speaks volumes about how much IQ means to you. Well in that case you have to take a step back and think that just because you enjoy the lacklustre attempts of the Xbox360 compared to your PC the majority won't as it's an easy choice if you can afford both. For you to own both and come in this thread and blah, blah, blah is quite entertaining as my eyes do not deceive me. Nor did they last week when I was doing a few side by side comparisons on my old AMD rig. I'm sorry but keep your jaggied up and slow console and remember that this is a computing forum. If you want to love the 360 then I think there is a section for that :p.

Enjoy your gaming in 2008 :p.

Correct he said last 3 years, YOU claimed he said he could build a PC 3 years ago for £300 which is false, he did not say that.

Hey, I just proved the spec could be done for £300, thats not my spec I do not do "spec me threads", its on par or better than a 360 anyhow (GPU may be same), and it could be improved on IMO.

Also 256MB of Video Memory is what your 360 has anyhow unless its shared as it wont be a card it will be a chip sodlered to the Mobo. ;)

I have a family friend who got a PS3 for Xmas, but his parents also got him a nice sized HDTV, cause the PS3 would have been wasted on his small portable CRT.

Hmmm wait there yeah I love my PGR4, Virtua fighter, and footie games on my PC ;) WAIT no I don't

If you can't see that both formats have advantages and disadvantages then well lets end it there.

All I have been playing on my high end PC rig recently is um COD4 thats it. Crysis GAMEPLAY sucked tbh

And from where I sit games on my 46" look pretty good thankyou :)

I said it would not last 3 years ;) You can also see that rig will at best be medium low today how will it last 3 years? How do I come out losing that argument? The only way to prove my point instead of waiting till 2011 was to look at what PC history which tbh is pretty predictable.

ROFL

This is not about who has the most disposable income to waste on PC hardware I think I would win ;)

It is about cost and that is where I came in to prove for price how can you argue with £150 to play modern games?:D
