Hi,

I really should know these things.

My gf had the implant put in about 4 months ago. She's showing all the signs of being pregnant, and is pretty worried about it, but as she doesn't have periods (and didn't have them regualy before the implant), when can she use a pregnancy test? As they're supposed to be taken a couple of days after you miss your period?

Oh, and Happy New Year  lol!

Clearblue® Easy Pregnancy Tests work by detecting the presence of hCG in urine. As demonstrated by laboratory tests, Clearblue® Easy is over 99% accurate as early as the first day of your missed or delayed period. Some Clearblue® Easy early pregnancy tests can actually tell you whether or not you are pregnant as early as 5 days before your missed period.

The implant is a small, flexible tube about the size of a hairgrip. It's inserted under the skin in the inner upper arm. It slowly releases the hormone progestogen and works for three years. It's a long-acting reversible method of contraception. There is only one implant in the UK, called Implanon.

The implant is a lot more reliable than the pill. Due to the fact you don't have to remember your taking it. Also there's no risk of throwing the pill back up when drunk.

Yeah, but we'd rather catch it sooner than later. Don't really want it on our minds.

AcidHell: I know that stuff, but how can you do the test when your period is due when you don't have periods?

Is there a number I can ring for advice on this stuff? Couldn't find one on google.

Do you know where that is? We live in Jesmond too :)

Google says Armstrong Rd? Or Graingerville? Don't know where they are.

You should have made sure she was on top, then she couldn't get pregnant - mavity you see!

As far as I'm aware, she can wee on the stick any time.

Just go and get one and do it.

AcidHell is correct. I spent a fair while getting all this info forced down me... shame we didn't go over this bit that I need to know! Oh dear.

You can't do it accurately any time though, can you.

my wife is on it and she not had a period because of it

I should clarify - we aren't worried that she hasn't had a period, that's normal, it's the other symptoms, which seem to tick off the "early signs" list pretty well!

if shes showing the early signs. Then do the test and if you can find the buy 2 for one. If it comes back negative then just try later on in the month.

Also doesn't she know roughly when shes due? it's only been 4 months. So surly she can remember roughly when she should be on?

Sheesh, if you're worried then stop posting on an internet forum, go to the local chemist, buy a test and do it.

Denying it by saying "no no no" won't make her any less pregnant if she is.

Just do it.

Mrs. Feek has spawned two Feekletts. The first time she was on the pill but my super baby-paste broke through that :D

Both times we never even looked at a calendar to see about doing the test, it was just "I think I'd better do a test"

"OK, I'll go get one"

*drive to chemist, buy test, drive home*

*tsssssssssssssssst* *flush* *splash splash* (hands washing)

"I'm pregnant"
